Without a trophy it should be cause for serious unrest in the fanbase and lucky to escape a sacking.

Even the chaos of the end of Conte with that old broken squad we finished 8th.

If we aren’t asking for heads to roll after 7th and no trophy, we are sending Levy a very dangerous message

The league isn’t the same. The likes of Forest, Newcastle, Villa all have ambitious owners. Most of them are only limited a bit due to buying loads and hitting their FFP. Going forward the league will have 7-8 decent sides not 3-4 good ones and that is before we come to United finally sorting themselves out which might happen.

This club sat of a weak league or should I say weak middle part of the league for a long time, that has now gone. We ain’t getting out of this by sacking managers and honestly if that is our only solution we are playing with fire, we got relegated in the 70’s where we where to good to go down.

Fuck me, he’s joking but he’s actually let slip what he really thinks.

Thats fucked up.

7th should get him fired. That’s Brentford mentality
You are going to have your haters here mate but I agree with you. Even if he was joking around you can't be manager of one of the richest clubs in the world and say yeah I'll take 7th... but then he doesn't have to answer to us does he... 7th is perfectly fine for Levy. PL status retained and increase in season ticket prices. Thank you Thomas.

Its the context, our best players are probably Romero, VDV and Maddison, all are injury prone. We have CL football so rotation isnt possible. When your back up 11 is currently Kinsky, Spence, Danso, Dragusin (inj) Davies, Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski (inj), Tel, Richarlison, Johnson for a 55+ game season then setting targets like 5th is fantasy land. But we know why some are doing it. Pretty transparent.

We finished 17th last year, jumping up 10 places in the table is undoubtedly good progress.
Behave... we ditched the league from Feb onwards last season. 17th is anomaly built around an inept coach and playing a mishmash of players in the final dozen home games. The bare minimum for a club our size and with our spending power is 6th. Only City, United and Liverpool consistently generate more revenue than us... we are on a par with our two London rivals and everyone else lags miles behind us. So if those five play to their potential and we don't over achieve then our natural place is 6th.

We shouldn’t be happy but if we come 7th or 8th that shouldn’t be sackable, that is par for where we are.

To come 5th and maybe challenge top 4 I think we need

Top DM (Baleba etc)
Decent AM
Left back
Another attacker

Can’t see ENIC doing it, they always hang the manger out to dry.
If you base everything on revenue and spending power (which I know you can't) then 6th is our natural position if every club plays to their potential and nobody over/under achieves... Only City, United and Liverpool have consistently higher revenue. We are on a par with our two big London rivals but they are better so I'll give them the 4th and 5th spots. Every over club lags miles behind us in terms of revenue so if we don't finish 6th then we either have a shit management, shit ownership, bad luck or a combination of all three.

I don't agree here Tomo... Newcastle can't spend, Villa (93% wage to revenue ratio) are desperately looking for a loopholes to avoid breaching FFP and Forest (96%) are doing likewise. Villa will have to sell and get wages off their books if they can't sell something to themselves and Forest will have to rely on unearthing gems if they want to bolster their squad. Plus the had the perfect storm last year. Forest will be bottom half, Villa probably 8th or 9th. Newcastle struggled last time they had Champions League football so fully expect them to have same problems as last time. Outside their first eleven the rest of the squad is weak. There are still six big clubs and we are one of them. Yes, those six can under perform and allow and over performing team to nip in but ultimately we should not be accepting of anything outside top six.

I’m used to having haters here.

Appreciate the back up though.

If we start this weak sauce shit of accepting 7th as fans, then we only have ourselves to blame if Levy takes the piss and feeds us a 7th place finish

We shouldn’t be accepting of outside the top 6 I just don’t see the current squad as being anything other than a 5-8th proposition and we have a full CL campaign. Hoping others fall over which might happen isn’t the best strategy, the best strategy is fixing the squad.

It’s not accepting it. It’s understanding the mess we are in and then thinking just lots of manager sacking will fix it all up. Our midfield and forward line is average, the club need to get it fixed before the season kicks off.

There's always one surprise team that comes up to challenge the top 8 every season. Last season it was forest.

I think we will be back in the top half, so will united. Who knows one of the promoted teams might come up. Leeds might do a Leeds when they were in the Champions League in 2003.

I think Villa are an interesting one. They still have some good players and a decent manager. Newcastle will be up there and the top 4 have pulled away a little from the rest.

So, us having a good year while other teams still building isn’t really anything to hang on. If we are just going to stand still we will fall behind. Do you ever try and get an unbiased view of our squad, a United or Liverpool or other fans who isn’t a rival, almost none of them rate our squad as anything special, it’s just seen as a middling squad. We have declined and we need to fix it up, our backline is ok on paper but our midfield and attack is mediocre. We need some good players to come in and not rely on our competitors doing badly and certainly not hang everything on the manager and use him as a scapegoat.

and there is always one that falls away (last season was strange that it was two, us and man utd)

well he better be joking, id rather he said his aim is to win the prem and CL rather than the little rat fuck creep that owns the club. least i'd actually believe Frank wont accept mediocrity for very long and push the owners to make it a reality.

If levy is the one with all the on pitch ambition and frank is just happy to be Brentford deluxe then we are more cooked than i could possibly imagine

Fans rate squads based on recent results though

If our back 4 is fit, I rate it above anyone outside the top 4.

Newcastle attack with Isak is better than us, if they sell him not so much.
