I think he will have learnt a lot about the team and players last night having just watched his press conference.

Plus, something quite crucial, we got to practice the change in formation against top draw opponents. That should really help us going forward this season in the bigger games with any luck.

Good managers might need quality players... very good managers don't... they need some but they will create a structure to play within that puts the players they do have in the best position to succeed. They will promote discipline, confidence and everyone doing their job. That's what very good managers do.

Everyone else needs quality players, kind fixtures, luck with injuries, opponents underperforming etc.
Then why does Pep Guardiola, the worlds best manager, spend 150-250 million every summer? Why would he not just say, "I've got my structure, I'll work with who I've got"?

Is Pep the worlds best manager... not for me. Slot won PL league last season and the only player they bought was Chiesa who made 6 appearances in the league. I don't even think Slot is the worlds best manager... it's probably someone in some obscure league that continues to win against all the odds... Pep is a cheque book manager who for some unknown reason has other coaches trying to copy what he does. Yeah, he's won a lot but when he wins without spending 200m I'll give him more credit.

Soooo....Ange>Enrique, Klop and Slot?

"Ultimately you need a high level players to win things most of the time, "

most = '
something is true or happens to a greater degree or extent than anything else' -collins dictionary

hence most of the time does not mean all of the time.

A manager needs to make the whole better than just the sum of its parts. I don't think anyone before the game thought these players would be 2-0 up against PSG in a final so credit must go to Frank.

He looks like he may find a way to get the most of what he has been given to work with but I'm not sure it will be what all fans want to see or appreciate.

We didn’t have the quality off the bench like PSG did.

Solanke hasn’t had a full preseason.
If he wasn't crochety about something it wouldn't be a day of the week.

Dull.

Fact that people feel PSG had no right to get back into the game -- and wouldn't be able to push and pressure us for it as the clock ticked down, with the quality they have -- is a testament, in itself, to how well we played.

We were not supposed to be anywhere near in that game, yet drew with them in normal time.

It was a monumental effort with the squad we have and for how long Frank has had them.

thats exactly what frank did last night! he put together a plan to beat the best team in the world, yes his subs let him down, but the 11 that started, without one single creative player, had the better off the best team in the world for 80 minutes.

if he actually had another forward on the bench that could hold the ball up and get the team up the pitch then it would of been a different story, instead hes had tel forced on him from the previous regime.

fair enough he can be called out for his subs, but his hands were pretty tied from the off, the performance in the first 80 was top draw, if PSG had started ruiz then maybe it would have been a different game, but for our 11 to play the way they did against their starting 11 was very positive.

I can feel your pain at having a proper manager and coach again after last season's chaos.

thoughts and prayers.

No more Quixotic.

Boo fucking hoo

Anything better than a 5-0 drubbing wouldve been a positive. Thats how they won the CL remember?

I'll take a 2-2 v PSG
1-0 v goons
1-1 v Barcodes
every day of the week right now

Last season we couldnt beat fucking Tamworth

but, yeah, let's find the negatives

As I have said previously, no problem with the sacking of Ange.

I’ll take winning the Europa league over losing to PSG and winning and drawing two meaningless friendlies though.

All I’m asking is shouldn’t we at least wait unril Frank actually achieves something before we start sucking each off? Is that unreasonable?
