Majority of Brentford fans were yelling for him to get sacked 5-10 games into that tenure. He got through it, got them promoted and is now likely considered the best coach in the clubs history.
Brentford were a small club in the Championship, no disrespect, but the intensity and media glare at Spurs is a completely different beast.

Thats not his only bad run.

That 2nd season in the PL he lost Toney, had a bunch of injuries too, and half way thru the season it all turned very sour. But he turned it around, somehow. I wasn't watching them apart from our games v them, so feck knows why. Anyway they finished 13pts clear of relegation. Last 10 games very decent results.
Toney’s ban could have crippled them, but Frank tweaked things and they somehow scored even more without him. On the lowest budget in the league, that’s quite remarkable. And despite also being ravaged by injuries in the PL, they’ve always found a way through.

No doubt a quality manager, we're lucky to have him.

Just a few thoughts, random bits.

The Premier League is the fastest, toughest and most intense league in the world and it seemingly keeps moving more and more into that direction.
Over time we've seen so many different styles of play/tactics that have come along to outwit and unserped the previously viewed 'best way to win/style of play'. Tika taka, inverted fullbacks, even 4 cb's in a back 4.

One thing that really jumps out at me currently.
Successful pl teams and those on the rise all seem to currently have one thing in common. They are all big, strong powerful units, yes they can play but i think the emphasis is more sided towards powerplay and physical prowess over having the best technical, intricate type of teams. Its all about the duels, all over the pitch. Just look, nearly every single team is going for long throws this season, a few years ago we laughed at stoke, Burnley etc for using such methods. Its all set pieces with physical monsters.
Prime examples are city. They have incredibly talented players but they can get overrun and overpowered if teams setup right. Without rodri they are so easy to run through in midfield. Of course they will win games but considering the talent they have and the manager they have can we really say its working aswell as it should be?

Secondly Liverpool. Its early days but since they have side stepped from klopps highly industrious 433 with 3 midfielders that are all energy and power they look to have lost the edge somewhat. Wirtz is very talented but what you gain in one sense, you give up in another.
Case in point, Newcastle. A midfield 3 of joelinton, tonali and guimares is just absolute shithouse central. Yes they can play but along with other big units in the team they are mainly physical monsters. Its no wonder why they are doing so well even with players like Gordon and Barnes who dont even score that much.

Im interested to see what direction frank takes us in going forwards.
We are all craving that star no10 to knit things together but what we have to accept is that we have done so well so far through having sarr at 10 with his energy and running power and we will inevitably lose that by changing to a traditional 10. Personally i want a 10 but much prefer the physical midfield 3 and absolute trickery and creation in the wide areas. This would keep us much much more solid and conceding much fewer goals.

It would not surprise me if we did look abit better on the eye with a true 10 but also begin to concede more goals as a result.
This need for physicality is presumably why MGW was Frank's top choice for 10, and Eze more of a compromise choice.

Kulusevski should be a good fit. Until he's back, maybe he will prefer another physical monster like Rabiot if he can't find the right 10. With Biss leaving, I do think we need one more midfielder.

This is why MGW would have been a dream signing

I agree, i think frank is not really interested in a fancy, lightweight 10 (eg, bek).

I said earlier in the window that Rogers was probably the perfect 10 for a frank team. Great hold up, ball carrier and penalty box bomber. Not much chance of that though.

This is also why i think it's important to get another creative winger. Id take a top quality winger and sarr/bergvall at 10 at this point tbh

Agree he will prioritise creativity from the wingers (so suspect Savinho is the one he really wants). I can see he'd be happy with counterpressing threat from the 10 (Sarr/Bergvall), especially in absence of top quality 10 options.

Personally I think if we don't sign a 10/midfielder we are a bit light, a couple of injuries away from relying on kids like Gray and Bergvall playing twice a week.

You can’t pin him to one set style either, because he adapts to what’s in the squad and who’s across the pitch. That sort of variation and pragmatism is seriously impressive.

This isn’t just some manager who had one good season with a smaller club and then lucked into a bigger job. He spent eight years at Brentford, working on one of the tightest budgets, yet turned them into a decent mid-table side with clever signings and by squeezing every drop out of the squad.

And don’t forget, he brought most of his staff with him from Brentford, and they’re playing their part as well
Shows how football has evolved, Ranieri was the tinker man. The press stated footballers couldn’t handle change game to game. Maybe they couldn’t back then, but Frank is showing nowadays players are more than capable, game to game and in game.

It’s clear that Frank is expected to overachieve with minimal backing compared to his peers.

Can he survive the 2 year cycle?
I hope so, he seems like a decent bloke with a lot of tactical nous. Whether he ends up getting frustrated due to lack of backing in the transfer market or Levy puts the blame on him when the fans turn due to lack of backing in the transfer market is a different matter.

The last decade+ is pretty much deja vu as far as this managerial merry go round is concerned.
