I'm glad you're not sticking to your guns and calling him out, it seems like there's a section of people who won't let your have a bad thing to say about thjs manager mainly because they've gone so far in their criticism of our previous one that they'll back this one no matter what as it justifies their arguments and position.

I do like Frank and expect him to get it right but I don't like what I'm seeing at the moment and thst can be alievated by making a couple of simple switches to the team which he has field to do thus far.

Absolutely. I have no agenda at all. I worked out Ange was a fraud very early on and nothing I saw changed my opinion on that, which is why I was so vocally Ange out for so long.

I'll always call it as I see it. I think Frank will be a success even though he wasn't my top choice. Iraola was. But at the same time I will also call it out when I see him making mistakes.

The Xavi on the left experiment needs to end. For me, the very basic part of a manager's remit is picking the right team, the right players in the right position. I think Frank has done some good things, he'd made us much more solid and harder to beat, we defend far better, and there's also some leeway he needs to be granted by the fact that we have Maddison, Kulu, Solanke and Muani out which is a really important group of players which should help our attack.

So of course he needs time to get things going in terms of the attack and that's fine.

But playing Xavi on the left, and picking two DMs and Lucas was just a terrible decision. At home to the bottom team. I just don't understand it.

Mind you, we aren't the only fans moaning about that. Look at Woolwich and Arteta, he also goes overly cautious with his midfield selection.

So yeah I'm not going to start saying Frank is terrible, or anything like that. He has overall done a good job so far, but the home performances have been woeful and he needs to improve on that fast. Hopefully he will with time get it all sorted.

I was really angry about last night, just fed up of watching us under numerous managers and 80% of the time we stink the place out.

A niggling concern...

There is actually several years of data you can look at. Frank will always be conservative and risk averse. A lot of people seem ok with that but not me. We are a massive club and we should act like one. That includes not being out played by teams rooted firmly at the bottom of the table.
We weren’t out played. We were all over them in the first half and should have been winning at halftime.

The goal we conceded was a scrappy nonsense from a corner. Our performance deserved tbe win.

Do we need to be begged? Of course. Doesn’t mean you need to make shit up

The best Frank ever finished in the PL with Brentford was 9th. That was with Mbuemo having a freak season that he will probably never replicate.

When you say that "Frank has shown he can manage successful teams in a variety of different styles"

When??
What successful teams??

Are we really going back to this old point? Success is relative to the level of the club. 9th for a team with bottom PL resources is successful. A good manager is a good manager and usually handles a step up in expectations. That said, of course no one can guarantee it will be a success. But it hasn’t worked out with the guys whove won everything either. We couldn’t win sht with Antonio freaking Conte. Who else did you want to hire that was such a guarantee? They are all taking a chance to some degree.

How is what I said deluded?
Not aimed at you at all.
Aimed at the deluded bunch who demand silly attacking football and that we keep a tight defense and that we entertain them come what may, even if the other team is set up low block.
And the fact our manager and many of other players are brand new or very young.

I was agreeing with your point that here we go again with the same old shit

Is it deluded to expect one of the most expensively assembled squads in PL to beat the bottom team at home who have mustered 0 points in first five games... Id hate to think what your acceptable standard is... 🤔
You dont understand football.

Wolves were never going to lose every game they aren't that bad.

There are worse teams in the league.

I don't think his idea is very complicated so far. Big lads surround the keeper and throw it into the mixer.
We look a lot more organised off the ball and defensively solid. We have a plan at set pieces.

We needed to become harder to beat. We are that. We will need fewer goals to win games this season. Frank and Cochrane have developed lots of great attacking players and they’ll do the same here. Give them time. And a settled front line.

3 highly worrying performances where we were hot favourites to win all 3 games. He's changed nothing between the games either. Starting Xavi on the left yesterday was weak. We basically gave Wolves nothing to worry about in that first half. They were delighted when they saw our team sheet and knew they'd a good chance of keeping it a 0-0 until half time.
To me weak was starting Palhinha and Bentancur together again at home against the bottom team in the league.

For large periods of that game and pretty much whole of the second half we were out played... thats not making shit up... thats a fact... yes we had a good 10 minute spell in the first half but that should be the norm... turning a blind eye to it and saying we deserved to win is making shit up to support some weird Frank fetish.

That is exactly what's going to happen but you would expect or hope to see incremental improvement but we are not. Take Donny out and the last three home games have been underwhelming and I think its okay to call that out. Plus I don't but into the whole Frank needs time. Ange seemed to hit the ground running... and before anyone jumps on it, no, I dont love Ange.

Based on Franks start at Brentford and Brondby, I was expecting a much more frustrating start with us.

The results have been much better than I was expecting and it’s not like we’ve been getting lucky results either.

Sure, we all want to see better football but it’s still very very early

This is an interesting point.

When you say we were outplayed, what do you mean by that?

We didnt deserve any more than a point. We completely controlled the first half but didn’t create many big chances.

Exactly!

And tbh it’s not even about style of football, it’s about stability. Every team that punches above its weight leans on other advantages like team chemistry and players that are well coached and recruited to perform a role.

Those things don’t happen quickly and sometimes good coaches discover them by accident when they are looking for other things.

And Wolves did? They got a lucky deflection of Palhinha from a corner.

On top of our goal we had the Kudus and Udogie chances in the first half that were both great opportunities.

We weren’t amazing but we did enough to win that. That’s football - it’s a low scoring game and we need to be better.

Three of those defeats were away from home, two against teams who finished in the top five... is that enough context... why did you decide not to answer the question I posed... in the 22 defeats last season, how many did Romero and VDV start in... its like you dont think not having your best CB pairing available wasnt the problem. If that is the case explain what you think was the problem... let me guess, all Ange's fault.

I wasn’t going to go through all 22 games. You can do that if you want. I had things to do.

I looked at the first quarter of the season and it was clear there was an issue.

Also our manager stated he threw the league at the point he realised the only chance of saving face was the europa league.
I’d be quite interested to see exactly who played the most minutes in our last 9 league games though.
Take some time out of your day and give us the context.

If I’m being honest, as much as I’m saying it’s crazy to start jumping on Frank’s back already, we never controlled any part of that game. Doherty had the best chance of the first half and nearly punished us for it when he hit the stanchion.

They had several other dangerous situations as well. I’m not sure we hit the target in the first 45.
