Is it just me or are Thomas Frank's ears getting even bigger?

interesting comments on making Tottenham Stadium a fortress.

Feel like every manager since poch has in a way kinda mentioned the atmosphere...the lack of it.

Been to the first three home games and the atmosphere in the south stand foyer / bar has been great. Unfortunately, it's diluted in the stands. Then, if we're not two up after 15 minutes, negativity creeps in and is communicated to the players, making them nervous and edgy on the ball. I'm absolutely sure they prefer playing away games coz our away support is good. The concept of ultras seems to be looked down upon on this site, but maybe we need a group of fans like that at home, in a dedicated section...

The fact that we still look more solid and see way more defending in a mid and low blocks, despite playing such a high line, is a massive credit to how much more well tuned Franks system is for pressing triggers and playing through the phases.

No more just running around like nutters.
I’d also suggest having an actual defensive midfielder in Palhinha makes a big difference.

Waffling as per when it suits, I see you 🤣

Last try to help you.

Yes, we can say statistically Porro has recorded better actual stats than Hakimi this season and Spurs have held a higher line. You can also say that Spurs have scored more than their xG.

What you can’t say is that xG is predictive of any trend yet because we’ve only played 7 games and the model doesn’t have a big enough sample size to be accurate yet.

If that doesn’t help you, I give up.

Give up then because it's purely opinion based and I don't agree, you're just gonna have to accept it.

The football is boring. Pedestrian, passive and showing the opposition far too much respect. No style of play in attack. This is acceptable if we are keeping regular clean sheets and hard to beat. We've been doing that so far so maybe Frank will get away with this style.

I'm not a fan of it personally. I'm not sure about this project at all. The home performances have to change. We can't keep setting up with 2 DM's at home and being so passive and letting teams grow into the game with little pressure. His approach is fine away from home and I've no concerns there but our home approach is terrible for a big team.

I really hope Frank proves me wrong and his data driven approach will find the optimal solutions. But today's performance and result is unacceptable and like something we saw last season under Ange. We were the better team but never really tried to get that second goal. We left Villa in it and allowed them to grow into the game. Then at 1-1 emery acted first and his subs won Villa the game. Frank had plenty of options on the bench but waited too long and let the game slip away. Poor poor game for Frank. He might be out of his depth.

Beginning to see the seismic difference between us and Brentford.

Before however people judge the bloke, let us not too easily forget that Klopp, Guardiola and Arteta hardly pulled-up trees in their first season.

Frank does need to quickly remedy the home form or it willl start to do for him as it did his predecessor.

Can’t for the life of me understand why it took 8 minutes to make the Muani and Bergvall on.

Guess showing them what is on a little whiteboard was more important than, you know, actually playing the game.

Really needs to reconsider his midfield setup and personnel, that Bentancur-Palhinha duo in particular.

We're effectively playing a back 3, with Bentancur never abandoning his place between centre backs in possession.Palhinha is as risk averse by nature, but he shouldn't be in a role where he is asked to take a lot of risks anyway. He is not that kind of a player.

Simons being a complete passenger either on the left or in the centre is not his fault obviously, but contributes to this nonexistent midfield regardless.

Hence a team quite dull to watch, extremely reliant on one player to make something out of nothing, and trying to squeeze every drop with set pieces, throw ins and such.

Overthinking every detail I imagine. We lost momentum as soon as Watkins and Buendia came on. We should have made the subs immediately. We were the better team before that. Emery acted and Frank froze.

Frank has had a solid start and done lot of things right - rotation, comms, etc. But he will fail unless he tries to play more expansive football. Progressing exclusively up the flanks and relying on corners and long throws is the tactics of a small club trying to finish in the safety of mid table. It is pointless playing someone like Xavi Simons if the CMs will not play a quick ball into his feet, something that Bentancur and Palhinha refused to do all game.

Another pet peeve. We are about to bring subs on, and then they have to wait 10 mins getting set piece instructions from a clipboard and printouts. Why are they not briefed on set pieces before the game, and then just given a name of the person to mark when they come on?
