it's a good point, never really thought about before but what is the logic of 2 legged semi final for the league cup. extra congestion for such a minor trophy

as well as just one semi final game, maybe something weird like the top 6 have to meet each other in the 3rd round. immediately clears out 3 top teams giving smaller clubs a shot at reaching a cup final

Alternatively, teams that are in europe do not compete in it. Would give smaller clubs a shot. Maybe give the conference league bid to whoever wins it.
Or make teams play at least 7 u21
Smaller teams may scrape an upset over the big boys in an one-off match. 2 legged match allows the big boys to overturn the game in the return leg and 'resume normal service'.
Doesn't that favour the bigger clubs even more?
If we play 7 Academy players and a team from League One has to play 7 U21s the gap in quality is going to be huge.
