Yikes - I just read the presser and Frank has trotted out the "we finished 17th last year" line.

No shit - that's why the other bloke was sacked despite winning our first European Trophy in 40 years. That's literally why you have this job.

But while that might play well with Ange Derangers it's the WORST POSSIBLE THING you can say to your players who finished the season on the biggest high imaginable and, with good reason, went into this season believing if they can just keep their Back 5 healthy they can push for Top 5, like they were under the previous bloke.

Rightly or wrongly the players believed that the 17th finish was a result of, firstly, an unprecedented injury crisis, and then, latterly, a strategic choice to concentrate on the EL.

Frank telling them that they are just shit and nothing they achieved last season counts for shit might play well with Ange Derangers in here but will go down like a cold cup of sick with players who put up a much better fight away at Scum last season with Gray/Dragusin at centre back ffs...

His first big misstep imo. Terrible messaging internally.

Don't think he should or will get sacked, but he's now in a position where he's gonna need a serious upturn in form/style in the 2nd half of the season if he wants any hope of staying beyond the summer. Losing to your rivals is one thing, but getting battered and showing nothing at all is another. Sunderland have put up a far better showing against Woolwich and Chelsea than we have and they're a promoted team stocked with new signings that also haven't had time to gel.

Think the only way he actually gets the boot mid-season is if we go on a sustained losing run and the players start lobbying against him and leaking to the press they want him out. If we lose the next 3 badly and are sitting bottom half going into the Brentford game then things could get toxic. Would be ironic if losing at home to his old club is what did for him.

let’s not beat around the bush. He’s not good enough.

I’ve picked up more garlic and onion infused dog turds with greater depth and creativity than anything he’s served up.

In fact, I’d rather eat a slimey cleaveland steamer off my dead cats bonce than be subjected to another 45 mins of the shite he makes us watch.

I would say it’s like watching a geography teacher have a slow motion car crash. But it would be an insult to geography, teachers and cars

But maybe we will get lucky in the FA Cup.

But it's possible Iraola or Glasner could turn the ship around better, I guess. It's just hard to see that right now with Solanke and Maddison dead ffs
Even if they could they ain't jumping ship to join this rabble mid-season. Iraola reportedly already rejected us in the summer and Glasner's gonna see out this European season with Palace.

I think the board stick with Frank unless things get really really toxic and his job is completely untenable. Like flirting with relegation-levels. And if they do sack him it'll probably be for some Mason-esque caretaker shite to see out the season.

Can't see us attracting any decent or ambitious managers in Dec/Jan.

Not even about turning the ship around better so early on. Both Iraola and Glasner have systems that take time to implement. They may have both lost 4-1 today also but I bet we’d be able to see some kind of a system and game plan, some kind of “If we just add XYZ we’ll improve”.

I see none of that under Frank so far. There’s no sign that we’re working towards something on the training pitch. Today we had no press. In the first half we literally stood off them and put 0 pressure on them. Just like against Chelsea we lost nearly every second ball.

The difference between Pochs first season here and Franks is that you could see what Poch was trying to do but he clearly just didn’t have the players, or enough time with the players to implement it. You could see that adding a better ball playing cb than Federico Fazio, a better ball winner in DM and more creativity in the final third would massively improve us. It was exactly the same with Klopps Liverpool and Artetas Woolwich.

With Frank there is none of that, just “we need better players”. Better players to help us do what? The problems are much deeper, the players bang average yes, but better players aren’t going to change the fact that in both of our main derbies we have comprehensively outcoached and a ton of our wins including the 3-0s against Burnley and Everton were underwhelming. Red flags all over him imo.

Yeah - we're currently seeing the dark side of bringing in an adaptable/pragmatic manager.

He's caught between 2 stalls at the moment. At Brentford you can afford to be fully negative and have the fans and players buy into it with a backs-to-the-wall mentality. At Spurs he's got one foot in both stalls - he's kinda got ambitions of playing some good stuff but isn't fully committing to it so it doesn't work at all, while he's also failing to replicate Brentford's ugly-but-effective approach in the big games. We're not a counter attacking team, a possession team, a Dyche-Style mid block stodge-fest team...we're just shit. And we don't have the shining mirage of an idealised style of play to give us hope of future glory.

It really is starting to look reminiscent of Nuno, who was similarly caught between two styles of play. Frank will be given more time but he needs to find something to give fans and players hope, and he needs to find it soon. He's gotta be brave and come up with some solutions rather than accepting mediocrity and pointing at last-season's form.

It’s almost pointless evaluating a manager for me.

The two recent London derbies show to what depths we’ve fallen.

Again, my main critique is that the entire culture of the club, from the boardroom at Lilywhite House to the training centre to the shiny new stadium, is rotten, complacent, and full of a misplaced sense of greatness. Players and staff are all lost in their 5* spa bubble in Enfield. They don’t feel what the fans do. They don’t want to fight Chelsea and Woolwich, leaving everything on the pitch, going for glory or simply refusing to be beaten.

We are so far off this it’s just tragically obscene…

“It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. At Spurs we set our sights very high, so that even failure will have in it an echo of glory…”

Shameful from the leadership and administrative arm of the club. Utterly shameful.

No you are being disingenuous for comparing this situation to Nuno's situation because as I said we had Conte waiting in wings to takeover...who do we have to replace Frank if we get rid?

You need to stop lying, for once, can you manage that?
Yeah - I don't see many people defending Frank atm. Post-Woolwich it's basically been a pile-on, and understandably.

But the idea that we should just sack him ASAP without a strong replacement lined-up is braindead. The names touted aren't gonna come and we can't have another lost caretaker season. Better to stick with Frank and hope he somehow figures something out than go through that shite imo.
