The most worrying thing is we are playing shit with a completely bloated squad where our young players aren't even getting a chance. I wouldn't mind being shit if I knew we were playing kids that I knew were going to get better.

But Gray, Bergvall and Sarr were all unused subs yesterday and likely none of them will play any of the PSG game either. We aren't even offering a stepping stone to young players. There is nothing good going on atm.

We are playing a terrible style of football which only works if you've a team ready to win now and win ugly. We don't have that!

The injured players won't even make a big difference when they comeback. How is Frank going to get Kulusevski, Kudus and Simons all into the same team? He won't! He couldn't even find room for Simons yesterday! Solanke back means we probably won't see Tel play again this season if Muani and Richarlison stay fit! I can't see anything to cling onto atm.

The annoying thing is, we always played well under Ange when we'd a fit squad. I actually think ange would have us doing far better than Frank this season if he'd this squad available.I guess the arguement is we'd have a lot more injuries if Ange was still the manager! But at least you were passionate about watching them and could make some excuses for them after a loss. Frank has no excuses. Its just piss poor
Even with a fit squad, Ange had been found out. See: Forest.

Generally how it works, yes.

But no, we'll stick with the wrong guy, just because. Sod any ambition, take what we can get.
Is it? Is that what Woolwich have done with Arteta? Did they sack him after two 8th place finishes?

Did Bournemouth sack Iraola after not winning a league game in his first 10 games?

If you keep sacking managers then why would any decent manager come here? What time frame do you give them?

Glasner is the one for me.

Top manager.

Glasner
Iraola
Xavi

Was my list post ange.

Top 2 seemed ungettable for us for whatever reason. And I understand the massive risk with xavi .

Frank ultimately seemed like a safe choice to steady the club to guide ys somewhere between 10th and 7th amd not be losing every week.

The results are now matching negative stats which we've been expecting. It's on him now to adapt , fulham will be so interesting.

If he starts Palhinha and bentancur at home he's probably never gonna be the right fit

I think we've kind of arrived at the same conclusion together. Ange was never the right person for that job precisley because he plays one way and the Forest set up for at least 2 seasons has been chalk and cheese under Nuno.

So I would suggest that hiring Ange to take on that squad was a dumb decision from day one.

Probably not even Ange's fault really.
I agree, Sometimes a manager is not suited for a Club, if the manager is not the right fit then the best thing to do is to get rid of them.

We sacked Conte. Instead of giving him the players he needed.

May 2022 was so long ago.
That 2022 Summer was the time to go for it. Conte was clearly disillusioned by the project after it and just wanted his sacking payoff, then a ton of personal issues probably led to his outburst after Southampton.

That second half of the 21-22 season was the last time I was truly excited by this club, the job he did with that squad and how competitive he got us against teams like Liverpool and City was incredible. Such a downer then the window and season that came after it.

Glasner is undoubtedly a better manager than Frank but that isn’t exactly saying much.

Either way, we’re setting any manager up to fail when they’re forced to start Richarlison and Odobert in a NLD. Until ENIC stump up the necessary cash for us to compete then we might as well just learn to live with being shit.

Never been so depressed as a Spurs fan. 4-1 loss to scum and we barely put up a fight. What the fuck has happened to us.
Even if we got Glasner, we don't have the patience amongst our fans to let him get his ways across. If he struggled in his first 6 months the same fans would be calling for his head and bemoaning the Ange sacking, crying back for Poch and spunking over Conte again.. It's a boring, repetitive cycle which is part of the problem.

Oi I remember reading this about Ange when the players apparently took it upon themselves and defied the manager's tactics and it was nonsense back then and it's nonsense now.
I never once claimed Ange lost the dressing room. He never did! The players ran for every ball under ange and more often than not risked injury or went against medical advice to play for ange.

This is not the case here. The players are not behind Frank at all.

But the 'pay the going rate' argument is flipped 180 when it turns out we have an Ndombele or whoever on mega wages and not delivering.

I think people need to get more comfortable with the idea that it isn't a computer game where transfer fees and wages are form multipliers. The rate of failure for high wages and high transfers is very high, rather than meaning a higher success rate.

You hear it on podcasts where ex-pros explain that getting a massive salary over multiple years can push a player to just stop trying because they're sorted. Sterling, Sancho, Sanchez, Ozil.. lots of Chelsea signings and Man Utd signings.
Difference is Chelsea and Man U go again. They don't shit themselves cause they got burnt once or twice. Chelsea are absorbing 300k a week for a player not even in their squad and training with the reserves. That contract runs out in 2027... hasn't stopped them going big and often this summer and they will do the same next summer. For the record our revenue stream is higher than theirs. They don't even have a shirt sponsor.

I'm not done with Frank yet.

But this prevalent notion here that a manager, once he somehow got the job, should as a matter of principle be given an arbitrary amount of time puts me off so much. This is not a charity.

Is this also the part of Doing Things The Right Way™ that is ridiculed here for good reasons when it comes to transfers and such?

And we can tell that after 5 months? Are we going to give every manager 5 months? How do you know a manager is the right one after that little time?

Each fan is entitled to their opinion, so I'm not going to tell you yours is wrong, but if we're just going to cut off a manager at 5 months we're not going to get anywhere.
I think the way he’s set up so far shows little ambition tbh - it’s rare for me to not be 100% behind the manager but this particular chap feels a poor fit.

I'm talking about the injuries to Madders, Kulu and Solanke. Obviously. benched as in crocked. Perhaps I could have made that clearer.
Will these player coming back make any difference? Who does Kulu start ahead of yesterday? We didn't even start Simons so how is Frank going to fit Kulu/Simons/Kudus into the same team? He's shown no attacking flexibility at all so far so very hard to imagine how he'll make that trio work together.

And Solanke being back means Muani/Richarlison on the bench so Tel just gets omitted from the match day squads? Would maddison have started yesterday in our negative 5-2-2-1 set up? I don't think Maddison would start in a defensive formation like that, same way Simons didn't start yesterday.

We could have all them players available and nothing would have been different yesterday imo.

I hope at the very least he understands the anger of the fanbase today? We’re fucking fuming! I hope he has a sense of that
Oh we are angry alright. I'm still fucking livid this morning.

Why are we directing everything at the geezer who stands on the touchline though, particularly when most of us without the benefit of hindsight would probably have set up the exact same way yesterday.

I'ts mostly the spineless players that can't motivate themselves to fight like hell in a NLD that I'm directing my ire at.

We could have had any manager in the world in the dugout yesterday and we would have got tonked and bullied purely because they didn't show any fight or bottle at all as a collective.

Short answer. Yesterday, probably not as I think setting up defensivley was the correct decision.
For the rest of the season so far they would have made a huge difference and I wager we would look a lot better going forwards in general.
