But Thomas Frank was the wrong appointment.

He coaches dull, prehistoric football. He gives dull uninspiring interviews.
Fans are voting with their feet because they're paying elite club ticket prices to watch lower league football under a small club manager.
1000's of tickets are going unsold.
Under his short tenure he's already horribly embarrassed us against our two biggest rivals.

We need to raise our standards. You need to raise your standards. We are not Brentford fc

It's only a matter of time.
Hes a nice guy Frank but Tottenham is different to brentford. Crap performances are ok at brentford but at Tottenham it's not acceptable.

The performances have been mostly terrible all season. There's no hidden meaning there

100%.

Losing football matches happens. Losing to Woolwich and Chelsea happens. A lot.

Having no fucking fight is the issue.

If Ange was here we’d have done that gung ho nonsense and we probably wouldn’t have lost 4-1, nor would our xG have been 0.07. We’d still have lost but at least we’d have had a go.

When people are harking back to the worst Premier League manager we've ever had then we clearly have a problem :D

I mean, they have been objectively quite terrible for 2 years now. We've had some decent games in between with Frank but this isn't like some "new" thing. We finished 17th last season for a reason, so he's not suddenly doing a Nuno and taking a top 4 side with near-peak Kane/Son and failing to get a shot on goal.

All of what we're seeing is not "new" or created by him

We finished 17th as Ange was a 2nd rate manager. His tactics completely burned out players. Tbh I think our injury situation is slowly but surely improving under Frank. Were not a 17th place squad Top 6 or 7 imo. I'm just not sure Frank's style of play is realistically going to get us to next level.

I think this idea of a "rough season" is an invention so far though.

As mentioned, so far we're unbeaten in the CL, 3pts off top 4, 5 off 2nd place... all with a big injury list.

The panic seems to be because we've lost to teams in 1st and 2nd who are in a rich vein of form.

Eh the performances mean it’s clearly only headed one way. The table isn’t always totally reflective so early on. We keep playing like this and we will sink like a stone with some of the fixtures we have upcoming.

It’s not been disastrous but it’s not been good and it’s also been painfully dull which our fans won’t stand for.

In terms of attack this is a new low.

The opta stats so far are a pretty sobering read. Bottom 4 for xg, bottom 3 for shots in open play etc

But just watching the games having us hoof the ball and perform long throws already told us that

Ermmm. No.

We got bummed and embarrassed by our two biggest and most hated rivals. Despite having similar or even bigger resources and revenue streams.

The fact it happened regularly before Thomas Frank doesn't make it acceptable to continue happening with him

Arse were 3 nil up at our place the last time Ange played them at home.
It was only them backing off and a bit of a fluke late on it looked respectable.
We also had Son, Madison and Deki that day in 2024.

I totally agree the xg was absolutely unforgivable on Sunday. But we're currently trying to cut a steak with a spoon.

It'll take some time to see if Frank can undo all the harm that was done previously.
I'm not sure he'll get that much tbh.
Partly feel the new regime is going to want to make some sort of statement. When Levy first came he did it by sacking Graham and getting fan fave Hoddle.

In an attacking sense they definitely were by an absolute mile. The rest can be debated.

Damsgaard, Mbuemo, Schade , Wissa

Vs

Simons, Kudus, Odobert, Richarlsion
I don't know what the metrics are for proving that one squad is better than another, but one look at the table tells you that, whatever they are, there's not a lot in it.

Brentford are currently two points behind us and are at home to Burnley on Saturday. Anything other than a win for us against Fulham and we're likely to end the day, at the very least, level on points. That's after 13 games. And also with a new manager.

Interestingly, we play them at home the following week.

Klopp was never close to the sack.

Arteta won an FA Cup in his first season and finished 8th.

You could argue the fact he won an FA Cup so quickly not only bought him patience, but it also showed his future credentials as a special coach.

None of these have any relevance to Frank's tenure. You don't just give managers time. I could see in his first season that Ange was clueless and we'd get worse and worse, which did happen. Yet so many people were saying we should give Ange 3 or 4 years just because.

Ange could have been here for 10 years, he'd never have us looking as strong as Arteta has Woolwich.

You don't just give managers time for the sake of it. United are doing that with Amorim and it's clearly not getting any better.

You could see quite early on what Arteta was doing with Woolwich, despite some iffy results early on they looked well coached.

Remember when he had Ben White playing CB all season, Woolwich still looked brilliant defensively. I remember watching them 3 or 4 seasons ago and they were excellent at the back. The fact is, despite all the pisstaking, he's had them on a continous upwards progression since he arrived.

Now I'm not saying it's a lost cause under Frank. But the style he has us playing, it's not looking good. And tbh, those two derby defeats are sickening.

Where Arteta won the FA Cup and bought him time, Frank's defeats in those two games has bought him less time. For me anyway and I am sure many feel the same.

He needs to do something to get the fans back behind him because many are quickly losing patience.

And his mad scientist persona will start grating.

The Arteta revisionism is killing me, he was doing fuck all and won them the cup playing in a style which Frank is playing now with the previous manager's team, the following season the fans wanted him gone mainly because they were inconsistent and weren't going anywhere - this was the table after the 1-0 loss to Burnley AT HOME:

The only thing that bought Arteta time was the pandemic because if there were crowds in the stadium he would have been ousted.

Bear in mind, however, that this is apples and oranges. He inherited a squad from Emery, who is a very good squad builder.
They would have done quite well with him if they'd have afforded him the same opportunities as they did Arteta.

However, the fact still remains that there's very little good you can do by expecting a manager who can build something long term to do so within a dozen games.

If Saint Pochettino was here, people would be playing the same fiddle and often point to how they were just starting to click at the end of his first season.

Frank is not displaying the Postecoglou @ Forest symptoms of "going nowhere"
