This is what I have just said on another Fighting Cock forum:

As I said on this Forum over 4 months ago, 10th will be a very good result for us this season given our (limited ability) squad and our demanding schedule.

As of today I would take 13th.

From 12,000 miles away (but having made a pilgrimage to our new Stadium last month) it seems to me that a vast majority of our fans want to believe something that is very different from reality.

We are not a top 6 club at the moment and our performances this season don't give me confidence that we will be for 3 or 4 seasons to come. The cost of our squad is irrelevant on the pitch.

We have problems everywhere but I would start with the midfield where we have no "cut through". When have we seen a clever pass piercing the opposition and playing a forward into a goal-scoring position? And Maddison and Kulu are not the answer - apart from the fact that they will take many weeks to become EPL match fit, remember last season when Maddison went missing against the best opposition and Kulu was often ineffectual. Our best midfield bet at the moment might be Bergvall.

Finally (but acknowledging an Antipodean bias) maybe Ange wasn't so bad after all - at least the players knew what the game plan was and, at least on the surface, they liked him as a gaffer even if (with justification) they wondered about the wisdom of his game plan.......

That rarest of things - an actual considered, rational, eyes wide open post made without abuse towards fellow Spurs fans.

If only certain others could have the humility and wisdom to confront exactly where we stand as a club. If we don't identify root causes there will be no fixes. Those who promised easy fixes should now admit they were wrong.

Regardless of our awful results, Frank allowing the players to go to the centre circle and walk back in together is a disgrace.
Frank needs to take control here otherwise hes done for me regardless of results, as bad as they are.

That and pissing on the greatest Spurs moment in 40 years. I cannot over-stress what a calamitous decision it was for you people to deny yourselves that moment. All because you wanted to win internet shitfights over a manager. Just so, so very very sad.

If only Lazio had beaten Bodo Baggins, if only Bilbao had beaten United, then our win would have been more worthy ..wait, they didn't, but we did....

You're right there are people diminishing our only Europa win after 40 years on the basis of who we didn't beat just to hate on our former manager.

Apparently Frank could also have won it despite him never winning anything, ever, and numerous managers before him failing to..

He’s won the playoff cup, thank you.

Also - all you’re proving is that trophies are about context. Di Matteo won a CL and FA cup double at Chelsea because of luck and context. That’s why Ange won one - not because of brilliance. Because the draw and circumstances fell in his fucking favour.

It’s so hard to understand that you lot can’t accept this when it’s so blatantly obvious and provable.

He's still here then?
Only until Brendan's packed his suitcase

So for 40 years and however many attempts by however many managers, we didn't win because of just plain bad luck?

Or maybe winning stuff is difficult?

The plan was to win the Europe for two reasons: 1. get the trophy monkey off our backs and 2. qualify for the Champions League in a season were injuries meant we could not compete in the league for a top 4 finish. We then beat who we had to beat to achieve that. They're the facts. That's the context.

Respectfully and wholeheartedly disagree with everything you have written baring "Ange wasn't so bad after all"... I wanted Ange gone, but to replace him with this (whatever this is) is the biggest dereliction of duty the leadership of this club has overseen and there are a lot of candidates for that honour. Levy has gone, but Vinai should also been shown the door if he had anything to do with the appointment of Frank.

When we were good under Poch we were too good to focus on the EL and not quite good enough to win a CL and PL. It really is that simple. You really think the Poch team going full pelt wouldn’t have won the EL with our draw last season? Deluded Ange lover alert.

Chelsea’s best sides never won the CL, their past it team did. Because luck and context. Because trophies aren’t always won by the best managers. Slot came in to some good context and luck, Klopp went up against city at their best. LUCK AND CONTEXT !!

Ange got a fucking easy draw, lobbed the league away to focus on said easy draw, and the final was a coin toss. Well done him. He can have his flowers but it won’t change the reality of the teams we beat.

Two managers - conte vs ange. One chucked away the conference to focus on the harder league campaign, the other chose a softer option. What conte did was miles more impressive against much better sides. It just didn’t end in a shiny thing.

Ange fucking sucks, and so do his legion of fanboys.

Had the feeling from day one Frank just wasn't quite right for this job. Even in his first press conference he seemed a bit nervy and unsure of himself, which didn't exactly exude confidence.

A nice bloke and no doubt a good coach for a club the size of Brentford, but it doesn't seem like he had any idea what he was getting himself into, both in terms of the team he was inheriting and the increased scrutiny on him which comes from being Spurs boss.

As ever, though, ultimately the blame lies with the useless tossers we have behind the scenes who couldn't anticipate this and pressed ahead with appointing him. Recruitment of both players and staff has been nothing short of atrocious for years now.

Despise giving them credit, but just look at Woolwich. You can tell every player they bring in is thoroughly scouted with due diligence done on their character as well as ability. Zubimendi, Merino, Mosquera, Eze - these aren't world-beater players, but each of them serve a clear purpose in their team and they have the bollocks and mental strength to deal with a title challenge.

Our signings? Last-minute panic buys that were clearly rushed through. Have seen nothing from Simons, Kudus, Tel, Kolo Muani etc to suggest they are anything more than half-decent players at best. I bet none of them were actually properly scouted and identified as targets in the past, but were just signed because they were available.

We've got a mess of a squad full of mediocrity and weak characters, and I don't think that will change any time soon. Deeply worrying.

I read the Matt Law story and was as embarrassed to be a Spurs supporter as I have been my entire life. Absolute state of us, the players are a bunch of Fannies, no one is in control. It’s awful.

We are a laughingstock. The trophy did fuck all, just as I knew it would.

Bring him back and watch this team fly
