Why should we lose tonight?
This is the losers mentality festering within the club from the top right down to the fanbase.
Were level on points. Technically the bigger club. With the bigger ground and the bigger fanbase...The 'Big 6' side in the fixture......

Having said all that, yeah, we'll probably lose tonight.
Last time I recall winning there was when Nuno was manager and Ndombele scored one of our goals. Maybe we won there since but I can't remember it.

The reason I remember that was the look of despair on Ant & Dec's faces after so delightfully cheering their first goal, it was the first game since their arab state takeover IIRC.

I believe we’d be seeing very different football if madders hadn’t been injured.

We severely lack anyone with forward vision to pick a pass.

Xavi isn’t up to it atm.
Who do we have capable of a killer pass?

Romero maybe, but you can’t have your CB as your primary playmaker.

Guile? A lot of the players don’t have the stones for a fight!

While I do agree that there is issue with such players... there are 2 problems with that -

1) It shows shockingly poor judgement from Frank that passing CM was not among his very highest priorities during the summer. I kept saying that we need that kind of player over and over. Not the final pass maker (that Xavi is supposed to be) but someone that can pass the ball to him from our own half (!)

2) While we don't have that kind of players, we are still the team with LEAST THROUGH-PASSES IN THE LEAGUE. While our players are not good enough of passers, let's not pretend that likes of Wolves or Leeds have so much better passing players. So it does come down to instructions and trained passing patterns too.

Of course I am not trying to put all the blame on Frank. One way to achieve more successful through-balls would be ... you know.. having more success in receiving them upfield. Clearly another thing that has suffered setback through injuries. But despite all that, we need to take steps to right direction very soon. Otherwise it might be that everyone already mentally will give up.

I could not agree any more with the point being made of giving more time to likes of Scarlett. It might not be a silver bullet. He might turn out to do really shit job. But at least trying him out might give some fans hope. Right now optics are bad - we are losing, we look quite clueless, up until PSG game most of the talented youngsters were deeply rooted to the bench. At least from PSG game we changed shape. And gave young midfielders more time. It should have been followed up with at least "acceptable" performance vs Fulham and mood here would be totally different. I really hope Frank has some tricks on him still. It would be dire state of affairs to have yet another managerial turnaround.

I’d lay that blame firmly at Lange’s door rather than Frank!

Our recruitment has been abysmal long before Frank arrived and it’s one of the first observations he made if you remember.

It was, we went for MGW and didn't get him over the line, a player of a similar profile should have then been prioritised.

I think he looks a tad lost and who can really blame him as whatever he’s tried the players fail to deliver.

I think he’s underestimated the problem we have.

If I was him I’d be trying something radical and binning off a lot of underachieving senior pros and seeing who’s up for it within our academy.

I think it’s going to take a step change to get us out of this funk.

The problem for me with Frank which I can't get away from, is that the players don't look like they believe in what he's asking of them.

And he is failing to get the best out of a whole host of players in the squad. So even ignoring the tactics, chopping and changing and style of play, he has to start getting some consistency and improvement out of the players.

He might have underestimated the problem, but is he capable of sorting it out or is the job too big for him.

I still think another manager could get better out of this squad.

I get the people saying Frank needs more time at this stage. But the reality is he won't get the time unless he turns around results.

My feeling is he isn't looking or sounding like a manager of a top club, let alone a Spurs manager. His quotes are worrying and the fact is, he isn't showing any evidence that he is implementing a style of football or philsophy that will make him a success here.

This playing for set pieces, and just pinging crosses in every game is not going to cut it. If we get a hammering tonight the noise will grow louder.

If we lose tonight Brentford could be make or break.

When is the last time a Spurs manager was responsible for recruitment? Sure, Frank will tell the likes of Lange what he thinks the squad will need but as the end of the day I just don't think it works like that anymore.

Do we really believe that Frank coincidentally wanted Tel or was it just an easy deal as he'd been here last season? Do we really believe Ange wanted Werner a second season? Did Jose really identify Rodon? We all know the answer regarding Conte and Spence.

Our managers greenlight transfers but I think we all know it's "greenlight these specific signings or work with what you got".

Frank needs to be doing better with what he's got, no argument from me at all, but I don't think what's he's got is necessarily what he wants.

I'm not happy about our current predicament. But it feels like a(nother) transitional moment for us.
When Poch took over, he too lost 5 of his first 13 games. Those losses included a 0-3 at home to Liverpool, a 0-1 at home to West Brom, a 1-2 at home to Steve Bruce, pre money, relegation fodder Newcastle, a 1-2 home loss to Stoke.

We can all change history in our minds, but the facts are, we were shit at this stage under Poch. Arguably worse.
Perhaps, but he quickly established his own identity and style on the team and was willing to drop senior players for younger and hungry players. This came at a short term loss for long term gain. I'm not sure Frank has that rebuild in him. He looks like a "win at all costs" type of manager who doesn't have a long term plan. And that is fine when we are winning ugly but now that its stopped we are just a team losing every game with no identity or style of play. We need to see something change quick. I don't mind an ugly away performance tonight but we need to pin Brentford back and batter them on Saturday. Stop this slow long throw in nonsense. Its getting is nowhere in the long run

He said recently that Norgaard was “unplayable” last season, so why wasn’t he a target? Running the show for us has to be more tempting than no chance of minutes at Woolwich.

I don't think it was as quick as people like to recall.
Certainly at this stage there wasn't much to get excited about.
I distinctly recall thinking he was little more than another AVB with a rigid 4231 "philosophy"
At this juncture, we don't know where this is headed. Frank might have a fork in the road moment in the next few games where it goes right or it goes wrong.
Many fans though, yourself included, were far more charitable with time for the last manager, who made us demonstrably worse the longer he stayed, time and patience.

I am not even writing off Frank or praising Ange in the quoted post. I am merely illustrating how dire our current situation is, comparing to what was supposedly the worse league season, that we could be going to be worse.

It's precisely why when people couldn't detach themselves off the preference for either man that the bigger picture of how shit, and precarious, we are at the moment couldn't be understood.

You might not think you are, but you are.

You're effectively saying we are at the Postecoglou lows already.

Frank did not have the same starting point. He's picking up the mess that was left behind. Starting a new season does not undo that mess
