Cool.

Enjoy watching those nothing players for the defensive solidity that they in reality don't provide while we keep shipping goals at the exact rate that we were doing under the previous gung-ho manager in a historically bad season.

:mourthumb:

Yea best way to play attacking football is with 11 strikers. We all know that, right ?

I mean I've seen some painfully stupid claims made here. But to put total failure of a player that cannot handle physicality and make even basic 4 meter passes right ... into CM position ... that is masterpiece of utter and concentrated stupidity. Kudos if that was what you were going for :D !

It's a good point tonight and he hasn't lost the dressing room yet but let's be honest the football is turgid.

We' can't rely on Romero, VDV and Richarlison being our main source of goals.

The more worrying thing is we look very very unsure about how to construct attacks, and the stats are awful.

I mean it's evident that the attacking elements of his coaching are just not effective.

Saturday is fucking massive. We need to see us dominate the game playing some good football.

The fans need to see it, the whole Club feels rotten

If its more of the same on Saturday I'll be switching to Frank out.

What’s weird with all this is that it’s supposed to be Cochrane’s specialist area and hes meant to be a good coach.

We dont play balls between the lines.

Our midfield in possession is one big hole game after game no matter who plays there

Too many ball carriers (or cowards), and not enough ball passers in this team is obvious problem. But at this point lack of any creation is on Frank as well.

I don't think the draw in Newcastle moves the needle. It was down to dogged determination of Romero to salvage something as you'd expect a captain to try an do.

Performances still well below acceptability.

I can only assume it’s his tactics because our last manager played the exact opposite, but our entire attacking philosophy seems to be “Make the easy pass.”

Every single pass is sideways or backwards. We go from CB to CDM, CDM passes wide to FB who carries the ball and tries to get it to the winger. Winger half heartedly attempts take on and passes back to FB. FB sideways to CM, CM to CM, back to CB.

Rinse and repeat until one of the FBs or wingers boots a cross into the box or we misplace a pass and they counter.

As much as I have given Frank grief over the last few days, I have to admit that, while we are still playing dreadful, unambitious, football, we have been resilient in quite a few games this season. The only positive, for Frank, I can think of just now.

Regardless of how many defensive minded players you have on the pitch or how many of them you keep behind the ball at any given time, if the ball never sticks up front you'll concede a shit ton just by virtue of attrition: Having to stay alert at all times will eventually take its toll on your defenders and they'll crack.

You sometimes defend by actually attacking, as it's a far more sustainable way of keeping the ball away from your goal than kicking it away over and over again in a neverending cycle where you sink deeper into your own half.

The previous madman took this mantra to an extreme, but he had a point. Frank's current approach and personnel choice are not only stifling the attack; they are counterproductive for defensive purposes too. And then there's nothing left, just aimless wandering and set piece hunting.

There's something seriously wrong if you, with a healthy defensive line, are spending the last 2.5 months conceding at nearly the same rate the said madman was doing with Forster at goal and Davies-Dragusin at CB.

Mate honestly we were shit for 75 mins...like actually pathetic...no patterns, no counters, nothing - just give it to Kudus and hope for the best, it was abysmal - This crap isn't sustainable, we can't be accepting performances like that.

That said good fight back, at least there's still some fight in the team.
Our cm and attacking positions are not good enough. He's obviously realised this and making a conscious effort to rely on a structured defence with the goal to limit the opposition to not many real chances whilst nicking goals ourselves.
It worked at the beginning but obviously hasn't worked at all lately. This match wasn't like the Chavski and Gooner scum match in that there wasnt a air of inevitability that the opposition would eventually score. Of course we should be able to to do more offensively but we are a Solanke, Kulu, Maddison, Son short from last season with only Kudus coming in and being productive.

I think he needs to start playing Bergvall as an 8. Sarr's technique is just so poor and his passing is barely any better than Palhinha or Bentancur - at least Bergvall can take it on the half turn, beat a man and take some risks. Ironically that's probably exactly why he's not using him there as he's too much of a maverick, but in the absence of any passing midfielders I think he's our best bet and could one day be a truly top class box to box mid.

The bar is low if you're citing the Arse and Chelsea performances, 0 shots on target until late in the 2nd half...you can't defend that no matter what.
