If both clubs were to approach players offering them similar money and starting 11 positions, all of them would be picking Spurs?

I don't think so, and that's my point. Probably be slightly in our favour. They don't care about the 80s but living in London would be a factor for some.

Newcastle have better players to play alongside and have more chance of being in the Champions League next season.

Neither Newcastle or us are getting into the CL next season.

We are a definite no no, and Newcastle might just find they overstretch to the point of drifting into mid-table in my opinion.

Howe might be in his last season there, despite having done an objectively good job.

Well they just getting into a better european competition next season than us, or europe at all.

Do you think we could attract their better players to join us? Personally I don't think they would without massive pay rises. Same goes for Villa.

Nope, we aren't getting Newcastle's better players. Not at this juncture.

It's easy to say we need better players, but that isn't always as it sounds.

So-called better players must be part of a system and mindset that gets the best out of them.

I think Frank is a slow-burner managerial type, but I am totally unsure he has what it takes at a club our size, with its demand, based on our near rivals and a reasonable expectation of much more than what we have seen so far.

I simply don't believe the players are receptive to whatever it is that Frank is offering. So he either drops 2 or 3 or hopes. Not ideal.

Newcastle isn't an attractive destination for players, they got turned down by a million players last Summer, we also beat them to Maddison.

They've hit a big of a road block in their journey as well, I think on the face of it players would choose us over them - we pay significantly higher as well.

If Toon have hit a road block what has happened to Spurs?

We've won more than 20 trophies post war. They've won 4.

Vastly more fans worldwide.. Higher revenue.

No "metric interpretations" you can find puts them on our level, or anything close to our level.. They're a favourite club of a lot of the press for some reason.. But they need to worry about whether they're neccesarily a bigger club than Sunderland before they start comparing themselves to us.
None of these players care how many trophies we've won since WWII.

They care about who is the better club right now and who looks to be the better club in the next few seasons.

"Who is the bigger club" is such a pointless dick measuring contest. Newcastle finished 26 points ahead of us last season and although we've basically performed at the same level this season, based off last season, you'd have to say they are currently better than we are.

Hercules on SC is saying that

Frank's targets for January, Semenyo aside who we won't get anyway, are really underwhelming.

Now whether it's true or not, who knows. But if that is the case, it's going to be a disaster if we spend a load of money filling the squad with dross. I think it's going to be fair to say Frank is going to want physical players rather than technical.

According to this, Bruno is on 160k per week. I'm not sure we pay significantly higher, but certainly a bit higher.

And it's not like most of our targets aren't turning us down every window too!

Whether you think that it's a pointless conversation or not.. Is neither here nor there. The topic that I was responding to, was whether or not Newcastle match up to us based on any metric of "club size"'. And they just don't.

And your history is never pointless. When Woolwich/Liverpool/Man Utd have been an embarrassment, and our vast inferior on the pitch. They never stopped talking about who they are and what they think they should be. And that matters. So many Tottenham fans always seem to rush to saying so and so have surpassed us as a club and are our superior after they're half decent for a year or two. We finished above Woolwich for how many years? In the 2010's we finished above Liverpool for how many years? Was there ever a serious and accepted conversation, that we've surpassed them as clubs? Not really.

I believe that was all comps. I didn’t push AI too hard for clarity. Could be all made up tbh.

However I do know that the majority of our goals and assists last season came from 5 forwards who have played next to no minutes for Spurs this season.
So there’s probably truth there somewhere.

The Maths is mathing.

And my maths skills were once described as erratic by my GSCE teacher.
I famously once tried to perform Algebra Cadabra at a school magic show.

I’m also dyslexic.

If he's still here then it's hard to see even 1 win in February. Suppose what we can hope for is 1 shot on target per game, need to have realistic goals

DECEMBER
20th Liverpool H
28th Palace A

JANUARY
01 Brentford A
04 Sunderland H
07 Bournemouth A
10 Villa H (FA Cup)
17 West Ham H
20 Dortmund H
24 Burnley A
28 Frankfurt A

FEBRUARY
01 Man City H
07 Man Utd A
10 Newcastle H
22 Woolwich H

I realise things are on a real downer at the minute, but that run of fixtures is horrible.

Major conjestion in Jan, some real tough games and some real banana skins.

Said earlier, I think Sunderland could be his last game.

Potentially:
Liverpool - completely limp dick performance
Palace - comfortable win for them
Brentford - probably get a result, but unconvincing (although could easily see a loss)
Sunderland - exactly the plucky sort of team that can come to WHL and upset us

Sunderland the first home game after that potential shitty run is where I predict the crowd goes fully against him...

How do they... they are below us in the table...

That January is brutal lol

Were gonna have to act in the market early if we're gonna stand a chance of competing in these matches.
