Someone said to me today frank needs time. But defeat after defeat after defeat there comes a point where you have to pull the trigger.

I don't mind the defeats if we are seeing the team being creative and aggressive in attack. Unfortunately we are nowhere near that.

My biggest issue is even if Frank had a full strength team the football will still be unadventurous and sterile to watch.

Yeah, owners are always looking to destroy their 3 billion pound business so they can sell a distressed asset at a knockdown price.
How many villages did it take to raise this idiot? .
Its not that they would look to destroy it, but maybe now that the stadium generates hundreds of millions each year from events and concerts, and we are moving more into real estate with the hotels etc, maybe just maybe they are happy for us to just stay in the PL and take the TV money and revenue from the home games and keep it ticking along while pursuing other revenues, I guess we will see their intentions are come the next couple of windows however even an Idiot can see that we are now more of a business than a football club, if that money gets reinvested into the squad and the aim is to actually compete then thats awesome, however actions speak louder than words.....

Yes there is that point to him having no responsibility of defensive duties since Frank arrived. Suggest you do some more homework rather than spouting gospel from an article that is over 18 months old.
This good enough for you.

Right out the horses mouth " matty Wells will be responsible for the defensive part of the game."

I am now repeating myself a bit (but well, so are some of the performances) - but I am honestly confused about what he is trying to do. What is the plan?

The argument of "just give him time" implies that he needs more time and games in order to implement the changes that he is trying to make. But at this point I am asking - what changes? There are no real ones.

People were suggesting that Palhinha-Bentancur midfield does not work. Ok, we have not seen that recently. So it is a change, but the kind of change that does not fix the underlying problem - our inability to play through the middle. We still hoof the ball upfield and pray. All the senior players that let the team down consistently still are guaranteed to start.

For what exactly does he need time for? To keep delivering more poor performances and results?
I am not saying that I am sure he has to be sacked. I don't know what the answer is. At the very start I really liked it. We did well against PSG, then followed it up vs Burnley with formation change and bringing Gray to the mix. Then changed the setup again vs City and it worked too. But then it all stopped. Next 5 games according to Transfermarkt (i don't remember exact formations by heart) we played 4-3-3 and not really well (though we only lost 1) - but already trend started to set in.

All in all - I am just tired of it all. Not just Frank specific feeling, clearly. But also tired of some of the players that keep letting everyone down. Tired of so extremely poorly done strategic planning regarding our recruitment. Tired of our inability to detect the transfer-flops we've made.

Look, Wells is the least of our problems... if you think he is the issue then you are not looking in the right place. If he was given full control of offensive and defensive schemes then it would be much better... but my point stands that he was demoted in the summer as Frank wanted his own men to be accountable. Wells might be responsible for running defensive training but ultimate accountability sits with Frank and the team he brought in. Wells is highly respected in the game but we aren't going to agree on this so suggest we leave it here...

Funny thing is: With us being fucking shit it's not as bad as of they would be winning the league and us competing top of the table.
isn't it?

Well scripted post mate. Bang on the money and could not really agree more.

What is there to keep Frank., and how can our players, in particular the experienced ones let us down so regularly, and aee their mistakes rewarded with more games?

I don't see what Frank is trying to achieve but worse is I don't think he can inspire the team, regardless of its formation.

Hes been an assistant since Postecoglou and was in charge.

So since summer of 2023. Suggest you do your homework.

Matt Wells was in charge of defensive work.

Chris Davies the attacking work. Now manager of Birmingham.

Spurs coach lifts lid on clever Postecoglou training trick to get what he wants

There's plenty more quotes online.

The idea of Postecoglou having a defensive coach is like Donald Trump having a Speechwriter

Admit it.....i did my homework and your pissed about it.

I had a look through the last how many pages of this thread and there’s not really much that hasnt been said.

The only point that I can add is that it’s pretty wild to see the character of the squad being given as the reason this coaching team are struggling.

If you want to question the technical ability in the squad, or the level of experience and readiness, I’m 100% hearing your argument and any sane Spurs fan should imo.

But this squad has always had plenty of character. Romero and VDV in that Europa final didn’t show character? Newcastle away just a week or so ago with Romero single-handedly rescuing a point wasn’t character ?

How many times during the Ange era would they go behind to a sucker punch from following Ange’s uber-aggressive tactics and then find a way to come back?

They have character, what they are missing right now is team spirit and any kind of ideas for how they are meant to play. There was a simple idea of get it wide ASAP and spam crosses or set pieces but that was never producing much and now produces nothing.

Nah, not pissed at all... you think you're right because the internet said so and I don't think you're right because I said so... but the main point is you don't rate Wells as being a better bet than Frank and I do... but honestly, time for you to go on ignore... merry xmas
I dont even rate Frank. But Wells has been in charge of defensive work since Postecoglou thats a fact. You can cry about it as much as you want

There are systems we could be using that would make less of our transfers look like flops.

Sarr and Palinha are really the only 2 players in the squad suited to playing the system that we’ve seen from Frank so far. And he gave up on Sarr in the 10 hoovering up second balls.

Players like Spence and Bergvall are contributing from pure force of will atm, not because they are in a role that really suits them. Maybe we saw Spence invert off the left in 2 games?

I think we can hopefully, finally put to bed the idea that there is a coach out there that doesn’t have “their system” and instead changes game to game like a Chameleon to outsmart the opponent. Frank is playing Brentford ball and it’s not really fair to ask him to do anything else.
