Well, we’ve done the first bit enough times. Rarely follow it up with the latter.

I’d jettison but the fact a suitable alternative isn’t there makes me not as keen as I would usually be.

I see people say this a lot but I’m not sure I get the idea behind it

Hoeness and Xavi were top of a lot of people’s lists before Frank was hired. Both are unemployed atm,

Iraola is in the same employment situation as he was when everyone had him at the top of their lists. The club could just as easily get him out of Bournemouth now as then, if they wanted him.

There has to be plenty of good coaches out there that fit this squad build better.

The only 2 that aren’t are Poch and Nagelsmann

I think there’s probably better alternatives on our payroll. I don’t think you could pick a more ill suited, or qualified manager

I hope we get smashed by Palace if it expedites his exit. Sooner the better, don’t wait until there’s nothing to play for.
We are about 6 games away from playing for fuck all. Get someone else in now or it’s a nothing season. What we will do is wait until it’s too late. We have 6 league till we play city on the 1st of Feb. If we don’t pick up at least 3 wins in we will then be completely detached from the European places. Palace,Brentford,Sunderland,Bournemouth,West Ham and Burnley are games we should expect to win. The way we are just now we could lose the lot of them.
After those games we City,Utd,Newcastle and Woolwich where we will likely get fuck all.
Get a new manager in now and try salvage this season.

All the players he mentioned except VdV that ''love chaos'' were already on the books at least on loan, or were loaned out before Postecoglou was hired.

I don't think we have a ''split squad'' teams need different kinds of players don't they? Look at the Goons when Wenger took over, the defence was pretty much from the previous manager(s) so he only had to focus on finding attacking players. Nobody was saying they were a ''split team'' just because the players from previous managers were used to playing more defence minded than most of his new players.

Hoeness is still at Stuttgart isn’t he?

Frank wants possession....really in the same way that entity in the Exorcist did? Because I've see zero signs of this myself.

There must be an absolute gulf between these two teams' defenses for this to make any sense. And in case you're wondering, it has little to do with the individual errors that in our case seem to have amplified in the recent weeks.

We lead the league in number of defensive errors that led to a shot from opponents with 21, and are 2nd in number of goals conceded from them with 6. This is certainly holding us back somewhat, even though it must be noted that someone like Vicario for all his faults is still T-4th in number of saves for example.

But then Villa are T-6th in the former category with 16 of their own, and are also T-3rd in number of goals conceded from them with 5.

So this alone barely solves the conundrum .The question remains then: How come our defense, with an almost fully healthy backline all season, is this much behind a team like Villa's ?

It’s not just the defence - the DM and wingers are shit and lose possession when they shouldn’t

I'm not sure why we're still thinking in terms of 'a team like Villa's', as if that would be a bad place to be (apologies if that's not what you meant, but it's the way it read to me). Villa are on course to finish ahead of us in the league for the fourth consecutive season; and, barring a miracle, it'll be the third consecutive season that their GD will be better than ours.

We all want to believe that last season's 17th place finish was an anomaly, but I'm not sure it was. In a few weeks time, there's every chance we'll be contesting 17th place with Leeds and/or Forest, whilst Villa are looking nailed on for a CL qualifying spot and, possibly even title contenders.

Agree
We give up the football far too easy in midfield and up top, which then just compounds the pressure on the defence, that along with our at times risky playing it out from back all adds up.

Lost count of the times when players not bursting their balls to receive a pass or making runs to take oppo away to make space for the pass to others.
Should be two or three options within easy distance at all times to receive or offer the football.
Madders is such a big miss with his vision,
Wee Luka could still give them at 40 a lesson how to run the engine room.

Last year we gave Palace their “Spurs Tonic”
with their ist win, that game will be their template again.
They went at us from the off and never let us settle on the ball, their goal was a defensive error of ours and Vic went on to keep the scoreline “respectable”,sound familiar….

Thomas and the lads should know what is coming and be up for the fight and intensity,it shouldn't need us to feel ill done by referee decisions to get us going as was the case last week.

Every point is a prisoner now lads…..

Its utterly dispiriting how we have allowed Villa with a elite coach to go past us. They are the side we have effectively swapped positions witn. Ange Postecoglou Thomas Frank and the level of player recruitment (paratici Lange)has over the last four years done for us. This is not now a quick fix. Was a time they were picking up Lenglet on loan. We need to start buying the best British players can afford this and bringing through our own best young players.

Villa were in the fucking Championship 7 years go. They're shit bags who have lucked out with a top coach and some quality signings that have worked out. I'm not thinking Villa. I'm think better than Villa who like Newcastle will only challenge every other season.

We need to get the managerial appointment right.

I won't move from saying I thought Frank would bring order if nothing else. Not a sign of it and zero attacking impetus.

You look for example at Gordon last night for Newcatle, whose radar was not at its best and compare him to Frank's preference in Kudus, and it is utterly dispiriting.

I think all managers need a season to get there feet firmly under the table unless its really bad. He has been dealt a bad hand with madders, kulu and solanke all long term injured. From the midfield to the front 3 we don't have any great players. Its embarrassing what this squad has become since the poch days.

Signings need to improve before any manager can do something with this squad.

I just can't agree with this although it's also very difficult to split the quality of signings with how a tean is doing.

It wasn't that long ago that many neutrals were denouncing City's newer recruits and look mow.

I think it's a mix and match. A manager must bring something that you csn identify as their own, and it must be emphatic.

Frank has so far brought nothing that inspires any confidence, and I'm not convinced that even if he had these so-called better players that we would see a rapid improvement.

For me it's messaging, philosophy, stature, both on and off the pitch. It's all absent.

I think the job is too much for Frank, and as a result he can't deliver against the demand.

One assumes the owners are still unsure.

We are reaping what we have sown. Buying bang average footballers, weak minded players or young players that are waiting to mature in the football sense.
When was the last time we signed a marquee player? A player with pedigree that still had a fair few miles on his clock?
We are now seeing the reality of this approach/philosophy = A bang average club!
