I mean at Spurs every appointment is a risk. Serial winners have failed here. I can't understand why anyone would not be considered a risk, especially someone like Xavi who has only had one real managerial job (I'm not counting a job in Qatar as serious experience) and has been out work almost two years.Xavi has only operated at Barca and his time was mixed, some Barca fans loved it, some didn't. Much bigger gamble than Poch or Alonso in my view.

He's just the next shiny name in some people's eyes
Can tell a lot about the people calling for Xavi. There’s zero thought behind calling for him. Doubt any PL club is looking at him seriously.
Think they beat a soft, weak, badly coached team.Forest have lost their last 4 games. Wonder what happened 5 games ago?!
They'd have probably won a couple of league titles by now.If only Woolwich fans had got their way when they wanted Arteta out a couple of seasons ago, Spurs fans might not be moaning so much .
Yep. We still haven't gone past the 50% threshold
I assume it’s due to his style of play.
When I read a Barca forum (always best to get the actual fans that watched his team) they liked how he played and gave youth a chance but also seemed to view him as a bit naive and inexperienced and that he is very much a system manager who needs players to fit how he wants to play which with us as we know doesn’t always work. He would have to make Sarr pass like Xavi, like himself. Obviously it’s a post Levy world but would we buy multiple elite technical players for him to help him out or buy randoms that don’t help.
It’s why I am all in on Pochettino or Alonso (if Real sack him). Genuinely flexible managers that will work with the rough diamonds they have to built a team and have a style that is fun. Managers that fit the limitations of our club.
The Dyche bounce.Forest have lost their last 4 games. Wonder what happened 5 games ago?!
Yep. That’s called being sensible Tomo, not picking some name because they were a wonderful player and thinking it makes them suitable for the PL. He’d do a de Boer, I’m reasonably certain of that. Good at the club he knew. There’s a reason he hasn’t got another job.
Still think Xavi makes more sense than Glasner though. People mad at Frank for being sit deep and boot it, what do you think Glasner does only with Wharton to provide better passes. Glasner would be an identikit replacement for Frank.
For me a manager of this club should be:
1 play a Good style
2 flexible
3 proven developer of players.
If they don’t meet this they will fail with us.
I think different but either way it's as much as what Frank says as what he is overseeing.
Against that lot or Filth club and one or two others, nothing wrong with being defensive and pragmatic, especially on our travels, but against other teams.
Send out a team tbat looks scared and they play scared.
It’s quite rare though for a manager to be a pragmatist. I mean in the real sense and not the bullshit meaning it has taken. Nuno is not a pragmatist he is defensive. A pragmatist is Harry Redknapp who attacks the weak and defends against the strong. There are not many managers these days who are genuine pragmatists. If they are ‘pragmatic’ that normally means they are simply sit deep and boot it long which isn’t the real meaning of the word.
They fail because of inadequate backing and lousy recruiting...of course the poor recruitment is probably due to the inadequate backing...I mean at Spurs every appointment is a risk. Well how many of the top 10 teams or even Bmouth have players like Wilson, Richi or tel in their starting line ups or even in their squads. Especially for the money spent. At least Johnson has gone.Just having a bit more depth and attacking options should help out immensely. Most folks think little of Kulu but he could really help us out with Maddison out. Solanke and RKM rotating up top could allow us to play more Richarlison at LW. I know most folks hate that idea, but at least we'd have 2 LWers in our depth chart.

I think you’ll find many teams over the course of history where teams had no great stars but could play great football. Look at the 80s teams Poland and Denmark. Even in the PL we have had teams like Brighton, Bmouth, Swindon etc all try to playe good passing football without a superstar play maker.who in this squad is doing to make anything happen? Maddison and Kulu have been out long term, and we've otherwise got a history of managers screaming at the players to pass it forwards, whilst they dilly-dally playing to back to the keeper.
It's not something you solve without players to do it. We've got a team that is still basically in the mould of Jose and Conte, with a million defensive players and next to no creative ones
