Harry Redknapp brought Sherwood back to the club to do the job he originally did for Spurs in the background.

Levy sacked Redknapp, hired AVB, fired AVB and made Sherwood temporary manager before firing him too.

This sequence of events took place after the Louis Saha and Ryan Nelson window.

Sherwood had a win percentage of 50% during his 28 game stint as Spurs manager. Significantly better than anything Thomas Frank has achieved at Brondby, Brentford or Spurs.

Thomas Frank has a win percentage of 39.29% during his 28 game stint as Spurs manager.

Thomas Frank's win percentage in 317 games for Brentford was 41.64%

The question you should be asking yourself is how the people responsible for hiring at Spurs decided Frank was fit for the job in the first place.

I almost feel like you might be a malfunctioning AI

VAR works in Rugby and the officials are unbiased and respected. The PGMOL are a stain on British football and earn more distrust from the paying customers every week.

Until there is a complete overhaul of the PGMOL, we won't see the end of this unwatchable, tactical foul, diving, set piece fouling, coach whingeing, and player cheating crap that has completely overtake the actual football.
Yeah but respect for the refs is drilled into rugby players from the start when they're kids. I pity the poor refs at youth and amateur level in football, they're just there to be abused without consequence.

TMO does work in rugby, and it's transparent. I'm still not convinced VAR will ever work in football though, it's been implemented badly and it seems to cause more controversy than it's solved

That’s possibly the worst downstream effect of the PGMOL and the culture of distrust for officials.

Unpaid or definitely underpaid, local officials still getting abused just for spending the weekend making the game possible.

It's a two way street though. Kids look up to the Premier League prima Donnas and then emulate their heros. It's a vicious cycle.

Fuck me things are so bad we're discussing rugby and refs in the Frank thread...

He’s being too honest again. I agree he isn’t playing these press conferences right. Nice guy but he doesn’t have the charisma. Although a relief he isn’t always searching for soundbites like the last manager. Got a feeling he is trying to keep the journalists onside. No snide remarks to them like Ange used to.
Yes I can only recall one sort of snidey remark, when he said he was a little bored of the questions about when Solanke will be ready to play. He might be a little lacking in self awareness because there's a lot of people out there who are more than a little bored of Thomas Frank.

He's a funny one, Frank.

Ask most football fans who don't support Spurs what they think of him and the stock answer is probably "top bloke, amazing guy, really solid manager". Wouldn't be surprised if they said "he's a great talker", etc. Imagine that was probably the opinion many on here when he was Brentford manager - myself included.

Had a funny feeling when he first started doing pressers, though. Like "oh....this guy's actually our manager". Watching him having a nice chat over a meal with Linekar on TV is one thing - he comes across as a lovely, personable guy and not like your typical football manager - but having him actually manage your team is very different. He gives off that nice but awkward substitute teacher vibe. He used the word "top" like 20 times in one interview and I could just imagine the players taking the piss out of him. Not exactly the inspiring leader of men that's gonna inspire a group of top players to silverware. Feel like that gut instinct was probably right.

That said, I'm sure if were winning we'd be fine with him for the most part. Loads of Woolwich fans think Arteta is a weird cunt - because he is - but they back him when the results are good. The problem is, when you're an awkward/uncharismatic manager the fans turn on you much, much quicker. It's like the polar opposite of what happened with Ange.

I still blame the last guy for allowing losing match after match to become a habit, don't you worry about that

The last manager didn't allow it as many still believe.

He presided over it and then used it as an excuse. We then went on to win the Europa, which enabled him.to sugar coat the crap in the PL

And without a doubt it left its mark but none of it explains or justifies Frank's defensive approach to nearly all our games.

It just seeps fear into players and supporters alike, which is why we approach a game against a newly promoted side with a sense of caution and concern.

It happened on his watch either way and it has become a habit but I absolutely agree Frank has to be doing much better at turning it around. There's no getting away from that. I refuse to insult him, hate him or whatever I think it's just too big a job and he's bitten off more than he can chew.

Nice people don’t tend to make top football managers

Pep, Ferguson, Mourinho, conte, clough etc etc

Not that they are bad people but they just have a certain arrogance and aggression to them which translates into their teams

Frank has zero of that, absolutely zero

He's simply not intelligent enough for the top level.

He can't anticipate what most of the fans here can - that Romero is a damn liability every game. Instead, he keeps picking the bum. I'm so sick of it. Today ROmero gifted them by losing his marker. Before that, he made a brain-dead play, creating a big chance that they nearly scored.

He's paid millions to anticipate those things, but is fuckin clueless. Send him back to Denmark.
