And after all that, since day 1 he’s mentioned the scum positively.

He literally told us “we can never be as good as Woolwich who went unbeaten, we will miss games “

He talks them up like some impossible level we can never reach and that fans should be happy with what he’s serving up instead expecting to compete with them.

People can argue whether he’s right or not. It’s irrelevant. There’s no need to say it. It’s like he’s trying to programme the fanbase to soften on the rivalry and be more accepting of them being permanently better than us.

Yep, too much of Frank's messaging is irritating.

We all know the here and now, I think many of us also accept that in some games we will need to be more respectful of the opposition, but that's for now and doesn't need to be said.

Going into defensive mode at 1 up against a newly promoted side brings a stench of fear that permeates on and off the pitch.

I was quoting him not Frank in regards to ‘almost positive’ .

But had you continued along my thought train I referenced our former manager who would push back on the question for clarification as to what better actually meant. That is what positive looks like not the continuation of whatever the journalist narrative is or negation of that bigger club status (whether we are or not in whoever’s opinion) as the front face of Spurs especially the constant hammering we get, choose your words. And if that’s what he chooses then he shouldn’t be here. Pep nor Arteta would never be asked that because under no circumstance would they entertain such nonsense

I thought his "Vinai stuck with Arteta and look at them now, he understands the benefit of sticking with it, something something alignment" line was pure self preservation :franklol:

Which is the exactly the point I was trying to make, you put more succinctly and less emotionally than me. Thank you

Firstly giving himself a public vote in confidence from the board

Then saying of a more senior Director of the club "We're paying his wages"

Bit weird. Probably points to the falling out that we are led to believe has happened.

I’m fine with the rest though. He’s said they are going to raise wages (I posted it in the transfer thread) which is good news, he’s obviously pushed for that given previous comments. When he joined he banged on about how to be successful there has to be alignment so without seeing the full quotes I suspect it’s around that.

All fucking irrelevant of course if he continues to serve up the shit we’ve seen so far but I don’t read any of that negatively except for the paratici comments, which could be down to language.

A bit off topic but in spain for clubs like real madrid and barcelona they have presidential elections where fans vote who should be running their club. We should do that at our club imo where season ticket holders and members vote every 4 years.

That's because they are non-profit, member owned clubs. Real always has been. It's only Bilbao, Barca, Real, and Osasuna who do that.

Doesn’t want to hand them the title though I’m assuming?

We both saw the timid display and losing mentality he sent us out there with against them.

I’m not into the paranoia of him being a plant etc (Vinai, honestly maybe. I wouldn’t put it past them). But you can’t persuade me it was top priority to beat them. We played like a mid table team preserving energy for the next game we could actually win.

Worst NLD performance I can remember.

Which still isn't as bad as the previous guy's comments about Woolwich winning the title.

At least in this case it's a 2nd language thing that can be attributed, as people are really clinging onto the nuances that are probably not meant that way

Tbh the wages went up in the summer for Simons and RKM. I’m thinking the board have told him to communicate that to appease the fanbase.

Agree on Paratici and falling out. But why keep him here if he wants to go?

Starting to find it odd how the press are giving him such an easy ride. Ange was hounded every day and night and bombared with constant questions about his pedigree, his career etc! Frank has a much less storied career and gets a pass when he has a worse record than Ange and the football he plays is a million X more boring
That's because Ange railed back against the press and they didn't like it so they went even harder... Frank allows the press to take the piss out of him and the club... gutless on the field, gutless off it.

Actually, Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Bayern, United, Woolwich, Juventus, Madrid, Athletico, PSG, Inter, AC, Barca, Napoli are more attractive to players than Spurs, with Newcastle, Villa, Villareal, Roma, Dortmund knocking on the door - not to mention the Suadi $$$$.

If Spurs want to buy established players, they need to overpay, overpromise and take risk - which isn't very Spursey!
Forest, Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Brighton and Bournemouth will soon be more attractive than us if we let this grifter carry on much longer...

Wasn't that long ago we were miles ahead of them...

FYI, the previous guy's comment on them wasn't about them winning the title. He had no interest in them, or anyone else, winning or losing and he hadn't commented on them in any ways. All he wanted was for us to cultivate and embrace winning in any circumstances so we can ignore anything else affecting us, because nothing will. That's the ultimate mindset a winning team can build on.

Then we got this guy now on his first day told us he guaranteed us we will lose games. Fucking loser fraud.

Needs good results in the next 2 games or I think the fans will definitely show they want him out.
Big 4 days for him.

To purchase a team like Pochettino had back then would cost crazy money.
Or intelligent recruitment.
Jan, Lloris, Toby, Rose, Walker, Dembele, Dele, Eriksen weren't mega money. Kane was a kid. Pretty sure at that time the most expensive one of the lot was probably Son ?
Not the most we'd paid, but the most expensive player playing in the starting 11 most weeks.

Not about winning the title, but he just "didn't understand" the rivalry, and was quite insulting in his appraisal of spurs fans cheering the concept of Woolwich not winning the title. It was under the guise of "I just want to win every game"

Next thing you know, he's claiming to be not bothered about winning league games to he can try to reach a cup final.

It was a contradiction then and is now. You either understand why winning one league is not important in the bigger picture, or you don't. Can't have the cake and eat it with that. Meanwhile, the whole thing was about a 'winning mindset', but what we turned into was a team that was basically told it is ok to lose over 20 league games per season.

What people are interpreting as some amazing mindset is and was just bullshitting the fans. We normalised to losing so much during that period that people are voting that they'd have the same guy back again, losing more than every other game, and not seeing it as an outrage.
