Gallagher made some sense when linked under Ange, high pressing, getting transitions in the final 3rd and having players up in support.

Under Frank? Makes no sense at all.

Feels like, if theres anything to it, one of those "The club has been after him for years and eventually gets their man" type buy we do

Not "Theres a clear reason this player improves the team"

I heard the entire interview a few times part of my job. You’re being extremely presumptuous on the basis of my dislike, What is ‘almost positive’ is that akin to being almost pregnant?

What I get/ hear from Frank is that the clubs that are better than us, that our fanbase needs to be better, the club set up needs to be better, players make mistakes at crucial moments etc etc

You know what I don’t hear from our manager what’s he done wrong, how has he negatively impacted play, players, fans because as far as he’s concerned he’s almost always correct. He doesn’t hesitate to talk us down (unlike the last bloke who’d actually challenge the question ie: what does ‘better’ mean for starters)

Plus how do you separate my dislike for the club performance from the man who’s directly responsible for it appears to have little idea how to alter but content to always have some veiled criticism of everything that’s us.
Sure but that wasn’t the question he was asked.

He answered the question that was asked.

Sorry, you were reaching with those quote. Frank has had some questionable responses but that wasn’t one of them.
The club he left seems to be doing much better without him despite losing their top performances if that’s not a reason to be negative then what is?
That’s just a story you told yourself. They are on pace for 57 points. Last season, they had 56 points. Is that “much better” to you?

I think, considering they lost 3 key players* and have a complete rookie manager - theres an argument to say theyre doing better on balance

If not, the fact he and those players left, and theyre doing 'just as well' also tells a story...

*I keep seeing excuses made for Frank for the fact he lost a lot of goals from last year, Brentford have lost Mbuemo and Wissa - 20 and 19 goals respectively and really havent missed a beat. Scored some less, conceded some less, similar points/GD as to last year....

Someone should ask him why they are more attractive and if it has anything to do with Spurs being managed by a Boring negative muppet? :frankthumbs:
You really only have to look at the league table for the last few seasons. It’s not difficult.

I guarantee you if he said we were just as attractive as those 3 clubs you’d get the same posters saying that he’s delusional and we are well off the pace. In fact, immediately after that quote, he made an argument in the video, which I’m sure no one listened to, that it is easier to get playing time at our club so we could be considered more attractive to some players.

Same thing happened with Ange. There were things Ange said that weren’t great but you’d get completely normal responses like this that would cause certain people to melt down and hate him.

It’s just irrational whinging when there’s plenty rational to whinge about.

Thiago has 14 goals through match week 20. That’s a pace of 26/27 goals over 38 games and would probably be Brentford highest PL scorer ever in a season.

So Thiago seems quite a bit better than Wissa. The Brentford and Brightons have been fine losing players because they replace them with equal or better ones.

The reach is one of us trying to make a case for Frank coming over as level headed (not me btw) by your own admission it wasn’t the question he was asking- so why include that as part of the answer.

Yes that’s much better considering last year they didn’t have a rookie manager and had their 2 star players. They’re passing last season’s target with considerably weakened personnel or am I just telling myself that as well?

Back the first point he’s never hesitated to mention how far behind we are them lot hence the justifiable capitulation at their hands, a draw away to Brentford is an achievement, an embarrassing loss to Forest is due Archie Grays error, something he’s also referred to unprompted on more than one occasion.

What is becoming apparent is level of scrutiny is not something he can deal with so he falls back on his experience which is little club punching up. We ain’t that.

Make as many excuses for him as you like but he’s done very little to elevate us, improve us or display that the step up is a gap he can breach. I cited the similarity to Graham Potter since end of October and nothing so far about has proven differently.

Wish I could tell myself we’d actually be on the front foot with progressive passing acumen and the middle of the park wouldn’t be viewed as the valley death for the rest of the season but I (we) know better

Not really arguing that, just pointing out the levels of change and even inexperience there - and yet theyre doing well still

Frank finishes midtable with football from the dark ages (GOOD FRANK)
Ange can't use injuries as an excuse as he injured all the players (BAD ANGE)

What are you? I'll give you a clue... the second word is sandwich...

I'm not saying "good frank" at any point

I'm pointing out the hypocrisy in people lusting for Ange to come back when he's was doing all of the stuff Frank is being attacked for, but worse!

You don't seem to have any intellect outside of insults, which is really what makes your opinion worthless

What's weird is this:

"{previous_manager} must be an awful manager because {team} are set to a few more points this season under their new manager, despite not having their best midfielder, best left winger, best striker - all of their top scorers - from the season before"

It's the exact same argument used to criticise Frank/Brentford, but it applies exactly the same to our situation if you put the previous guy's name, but it is somehow immaterial

This is part of the issue on here - you end up defending someone not because you want to defend them, but because people make stupid contradictory arguments in their criticism.

(not least, threads lusting for the manager back who had 77 points from the last league 66 games for us and was arguing with fans about how bad the football was)

You keep writing this and I'll keep pointing out to you that we have an actual poll asking this very question and Ange sits at 6.6% of the vote.

Making up completely fictitious strawmen to fuel your argument is ridiculous.

Eh? Unless you have a binary mind, there are 14 people who actively want him, over other options, to return.

I said "people lusting for Ange to come back". There are 14 of them!

More so, there are 64 people who would pick for him to come back "for the rest of the season and beyond" in the scenario of "would you sack Frank and replace him with Ange"

I'm willing to bet, from the way they post, that the 14 would have more names if it was anonymous like the 'Frank or Ange' thread, based on how people post

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my worthless opinion. I truly appreciate it. Although I sometimes play to the crowd a bit, I want to assure you that I can engage in serious and balanced discussions as well. If you look at some of my previous posts, you will find a few reasonable and intelligent responses, even if they are somewhat rare.

I am more than happy to have a meaningful conversation with anyone who presents a balanced view. However, I couldn't help but notice that you seem to jump to Frank's defence, using mitigation that wasn't extended to the previous manager by you.

Let's continue this discussion with an open mind and mutual respect.

I wasn't posting on here under the previous manager.

You say there isn't a balanced view presented, but I'd argue the opposite.

The things people are using to criticise the current manager, right here and now, were absolutely the same under the previous manager. That is why there are people like myself defending that point - it is like being tricked into defending Frank because of the martyrdom that is being applied to the previous manager.

You can't blame the Forest debacle on Archie Gray. That's just ridiculous. We were clueless for 90 mins but what was more alarming was at 2-0 Frank said in his post match press conference the game was done. There was 40 minutes plus injury time left to play. I don't know any manager at any level that accepts defeat with the score at 2-0 with nearly half the game to go. For me, that was painful to hear. Way more painful than any of the other bollocks he has spouted recently. As for the draw away to Brentford being an achievement. The minute I accept that as true is the minute I give up supporting Spurs. I don't care what they have achieved in terms of results at their ground. It's fucking Brentford. They were garbage for 90 mins and we were no better. In my opinion, a sense or urgency to push forward would have won that game easily. We allowed Brentford to dictate the pace of the game when we should have been on the front foot and giving them all they could handle. And I don't want to hear about not having the players to do that. It's setup and tactics. Nothing to do with players. Yes, they aren't the best but they are good enough to cause teams problems. Alas, Frank wants to focus on stopping the problems teams cause us by being cautious and negative. He will never change.

How about you start a DM shitfight with those 14 people and leave the rest of us alone?
