He deserves sympathy in some respects after this.
  • Passing sequences were much better than usual, although we still weren't immune to going long needlessly at times. The balance between utilizing the centre versus the wide areas in the buildup was also better I feel.
  • The first two goals are caused by easily addressable stuff, not the result of some chronic issues that've been going on for months.
  • He actually went for it after 2-2; and the team created enough to get all 3 points to "jump" to 10th and stay only 3 points behind 5th. Although I'm against this X points behind Yth place argument as a matter of principle, a lot of people don't have the same objection. And this thread would've been filled with posts spreading positivity along those lines had one of those chances led to a 3rd goal for us
Where he doesn't deserve sympathy is the 3rd goal. It is back after a brief hiatus; not that teams like Sunderland who didn't score from outside the box weren't getting those target practice shots. See below

See one that Fulham couldn't score from, much easier than the one Semenyo buried today

And then this

We have already conceded at least a dozen goals from these shots at this point, and have allowed many times more attempts like the ones above.

They always follow the same pattern: Instead of rushing at the opponent to narrow his shooting angle, players try to make themselves bigger by stretching their bodies while staying glued to their original position. They didn't even do that today.

And then there's this, albeit from a few years back. Is this an ongoing issue with his teams or what?

You’re the one ok with a gooner cup in the hand of our failing manager being paraded for all and sundry to see and comment. So don’t get testy with me young man
No I'm more concerned with the shitshow on and off the pitch, the shit show I spend thousands a year to watch and travel 4 hours there and another 4 back for every other weekend. So if you're going to insinuate I'm a gooner because I think the shit show is more important than a paper cup you can indeed fuck off

All the things wrong at the club, all the things he deserves valid criticism for, all the dickhead players failing again, someone probably handing him a cup is pretty fucking low down on the list of things to be bothered about. I doubt he picked it from a selection.

CJJ CJJ I said before the game Thomas Wank was mugging you off. Was wrong about that. Turns out he was cupping you off.

I also think its suspicious.

He could just say he needed a drink, and thats the only cup he could find, and unfortunately the Woolwich emblem was on it.

Instead he says he didnt notice it? Mistakes happen but its visible enough.
They had 20 cups, one for each team, all lined up and told him to choose his favorite club. He chose the Woolwich cup. And he wasn’t even thirsty.

You nailed it, detective.

There were aspects today that were better, in small doses

But "better" is still far from "good"
