You are going to be massively disappointed.

The top 5 finish was the abnormality based on an 8-2-0 start and no Europe that season. Sure, you will point to poch/mourinho/conte seasons but those players are gone and replaced by lesser ones.

This is not a top 6 club atm, regardless of manager. It’s not changing unless it’s fixed at the top. Levels above the manager.
Yeah to be top 6 in this league you need real quality in attacking areas.
City and Liverpool are full of them.
Woolwich have Saka and the rest are decent.
Chelsea: Palmer, Neto, Pedro, Delap
Villa: Watkins and Rogers
Newcastle: Gordon and Woltemade
United: Cunha and Mbuemo

We don't have a single attacker in that bracket.
Arguably Maddison and Kulu would be but neither will play much of a part this season.
Solanke is a level below. Richy is a joke and Muani is a myth. Our wingers and Xavi are powderpuff.

So no we are not a top 6 side and until we bring in high-level upgrades to the forward line we will not be.

Did you lads see any of the Real Barca super cup final? It looked like a completely different sport to what we play. Frank must watch that and be utterly bewildered by the forward passing. Two other things Rashford will never really improve woeful finish, and im not even a little convinced by the lad Real brought from Bournemouth Dean Huijsen, plays like Saddam Hussien. Maybe they will take Romero 🤔

I did. And yes, light years from anything we’ve seen

Im not sure thats true, didnt he even say recently he'd love to return and win something?

I just think he bottled it / failed / couldnt get over the line.

I suspect thats why Ajax meant so much to him, one of the rare times we actually did it (in some fashion too)

He said it about the PL and CL - he didn't mention the League Cup or the FA Cup.

They just don't really matter to clubs or managers past a certain threshold. Insignificant prize money, doesn't save your job. Only gets you EL, which is redundant if your club is a CL one.

I dont think any manager turns their nose up at winning something - anything

The league cup, for example, is often seen as the first pot of the season, a nice one to get under your belt kind of thing...

I dont deny theres clearly a hierachy to the cups, but I dont think for a second any manager doesnt care about them

TBH I think bad managers cling onto cup runs as a hail mary for the most part. The League Cup has been won by 2 of the worst managers we've had in Graham and Ramos, and both finished in the bottom half.

I never felt like Poch really tried with the domestic cups. It's silly to say he didn't want to win them, but I didn't ever feel like it was more of a priority to win a cup final than it was a PL game.

It's an odd one, because when you see teams like Wolves putting out a strong FA Cup side, you think "Wtf are you doing? sack it off an concentrate on staying up!". Wouldn't be the first team to win a cup and get relegated, but the risk/reward is a bit low.

I think one of the reasons we never used to take the EL seriously in the past was because there was no real 'reward' in winning it (clubs and fans divided on this), whereas getting CL football effectively means a £50m+ guaranteed bonus for winning it.
We were never beating Chelsea in that 2015 final. They had a week off and we played away in Europe in midweek.

WTAF!

DO IT.

Sack him now. Mason is available now he's been sacked at WBA to do his perennial mid-season caretaker role. Recall Tyrese Hall and integrate some of the kids into the squad. As long as we don;t get relegated it will be worth it.Will give the clun time to line up someone like Tuchel for the summer (if they're serious about being ambitious!)
Apart from the mason bit yes bring back some of the loan players.

Yeah I was very critical towards Ange and don't think it was the wrong decision to part ways with him but I don't think the idea of having someone like Ange was wrong. We just needed someone less extreme but with similar principles in my opinion. Instead we went with a manager from the opposite side of the spectrum.
Thing was replacing Ange with Frank is meh. It’s not like he is streets ahead of Ange. In fact if both were being considered now for spurs job would Ange prbly nick it in terms of vinai’s tick boxes. Tbh everyone would but they went with master tactician Frank.

If we lose to spam, that's likely it for Frank.

The only thing that can prevent it is the players turning up and playing for him to save his job.

If they want him gone, they could easily down tools on Saturday and that would be that.

I guess we'll see.

The notion that his job could be 'saved' by an ok second half in a game we still lost concerns me. The first half like 90% of our matches this season was trash.

30mins of ok football every few months seems to be the damn bar now. We should have been all over of them in the end but nope, just lost discipline and accepted defeat. All on Frank, just go.
I suppose it goes with franks view that you only get a few games a year when we are very good. Although we have not even met those targets.
