Ngl it would be pretty funny if we binned off Frank and then got a new manager in within a week who didn't want Heitinga on his staff. If Frank is in charge for Burnley we will 100% lose that game and then we really will be in the shit.
And giving him the Dortmund game which is the only thing we have left to play for this season apart from our PL status is fucking madness.
All the noise around him tonight after that defeat today makes his position untenable. The players know it, the fans know it, the media know it. He’s a dead man walking. So please ffs board, put everyone out of their misery and sack him.
It makes no sense on any level giving him more time. Let Heitinga take the Dortmund game and then install an interim until the summer. Throw the money at Alonso too on the outside chance he’ll consider it.
Then we can assess our options and maybe get Poch back or someone else.
I'm not getting that though mate. If he is a genuinely good coach, surely he'd be getting more of a tune out of a team full of international players? I mean, if the clubs expectation was for us to be challenging then I'd be with you, as he doesn't have anywhere near the playing staff for those expectations to be realistic, but I don't think that has been put on him.FWIW - still worry sacking a perfectly competent (if wrong style for our club) manager for an unknown interim could lead to a Stellini/mason situation
But it's hard to see how we can keep on. The crowd have completely turned. It's really toxic towards him because there's no Levy to take the heat. Just all feels untenable.
It's a shame because while he's not my cup of te, Frank is genuinely a good coach. Just a square peg in a round hole at a club that simply refuses to acknowledge its deeper issues
I reckon he'd be happy enough. A multi million quid pay out for a few days work.Ngl it would be pretty funny if we binned off Frank and then got a new manager in within a week who didn't want Heitinga on his staff.
Like, nothing against Heitinga, but bringing in a new assistant coach only to sack them within a week would just sum up the level of incompetence we're dealing with atm.
Not sure it can really get any worse tbh. We're in full-on relegation form so provided we bring in someone vaguely adequate I think we'll see some kind of unturn in results.FWIW - still worry sacking a perfectly competent (if wrong style for our club) manager for an unknown interim could lead to a Stellini/mason situation

That's not the problem at Madrid. It's the politics and the egos that cause the problems there - basically an unmanageable club for a coach that actually wants players to press and not just get what they want. This is why I can't understand this hankering for Alonso. If he can't get a tune out of RM, with the galaxy of top end quality they have, what exactly do we expect him to do with our lot?

OK, that's fair. That's not the problem at Madrid. It's the politics and the egos that cause the problems there - basically an unmanageable club for a coach that actually wants players to press and not just get what they want.
It's a completely unique job with insane demands from the President, the media, and dickheads like Vinicius kicking off when the team is on a winning run and he's subbed after 70-mins when 2-0 up.
And tbh they were doing absolutely fine anyway overall. He had like the 4th best results of any madrid manager this century and they've been through a fair few.

What's that all about, is it some kind of Spanish superstition or some sort of half-time health benefit or what? :/

So what are the deeper issues that are preventing him from getting the players we have playing like a team that doesn't look like it's been dragged out of the pub the night before?
What "competency" is he showing when the team he puts out can't play cohesive Football for 45 minutes, let alone 90?
How is he a genuinely good coach when the entire team has just got worse the longer the season has gone on?
How can the two worst teams in the league come to our ground and outplay us, when they have struggled to buy a win all season? That isn't even including Bournemouth who didn't have a win in 11 until they played us.
We've seen all our players perform at levels above what we're seeing either for previous clubs or for their international teams, yet they're pub league when they play for us.
That's a coaching issue.
There are teams in this league with less talented players than ours, playing better Football than us. That's a coaching issue.
I could live with losses if we could see some sort of tangible improvement in the way we play, but we've regressed.
The deeper issues at the club notwithstanding, he's making us worse than the sum of our parts, and for that he needs to go IMO.
