Not sure anything will change if Lange and Vinai are still around and still involved in any recruitment. Unless we get a Carrick-esque managerial bounce I think we're probably still looking at a season in the championship.

This problem shouldn't be unique to us though should it?

There's no reason at all why we as a club should be particularly handicapped by it, the playing field across the league should be pretty level in this respect.

So the reason for our lot's staggeringly poor attitude/application surely must lie elsewhere?

I certainly wouldn't call it a failure. In fact I'm on record as saying Postecolglou overacheived with the squad at his disposal in his time at Spurs. I stand by that.

Still you get sacked for finishing 17th. The true crime was not signing top quality CM's which were needed during Ange's time let alone after he left.

I don't mean that at all.

But he had a young Kane, prime Eriksen, Lloris, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Danny Rose already very solid experienced players.

Moura, Alli and Son did develop well under him though.

I rate him, but I just think many other managers cop too much on here, when in reality the issue has always been above them.
 
Poch and Ange were the only managers to really talk us up as a club. Whoever comes in next better come with that attitude from the start. I'm sick of our club belittling itself. If you settle for mediocrity, that's what you'll get
