Player Timo Werner

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

At this point I'm more curious about how he was doing so well in Germany.

Was he actually a clinical finisher there, but got the yips as soon as he moved here? Were Leipzig especially good at creating chances, so he was racking up goals despite being wasteful? Because his struggles are not due to a general physical decline, which seems to be the case with someone like Son. Werner, on the other hand, looks like he has never been good enough to begin with.

Great at Leipzig scoring for fun, very young top German international
then moved to Chelsea and goal scoring declined
moved back to Leipzig at a curt price deal but didn't resume his pre=Chelsea form
This season at Spurs has been noticeably worse than the 2nd half of last season when I think I rrcall he got a couple of goals and an assist or similar in 2 months before injury. This season just the one assist and looks completely shot

I just don't understand why he does not spend an hour a day practising running into the area with only a GK to beat.
But anyway, that is the final straw today.
It is even more final than the last final straw.

55 odd caps for Germany, 25 odd goals.

Champions league winner.

Highest Xa per 90 of any of our players.

No where near as bad as any of you lot make out. All his efforts yesterday on goal were OK just keeper equal to them.

Scott Carson is a champions league winner.

Micah Richards has a premier league winners medal.

Werner happened to be at chelsea when they won the champions league.

He’s utter gash. Given how much we pay for him, he’s easily the worst player at the club in terms of value.

Incredibly, his finishing and decision making were absolutely top top tier in Germany for large periods. All you need to do is go and watch his reels from that period and you wont believe you are watching the same player. Something happened in between and he has just lost all confidence in his ability.

I remember saying 'Ohhh sh*t, that's a good signing' when Chelsea signed him.

I think Ange thought he could turn Werner around. He said something in one of his recent press conferences about liking players with that sort of potential redemption arc story, think possibly about Djed? Whether it's confidence or a drop off of ability, some players just never get that form back.
This was my theory as well. Ange and the coaches said "oh he still has his pace and is available on a free. There's still a top player there. Me and Ryan Mason can get him back to the way he was in his first Leipzig spell".

But what's actually happened is Timo has bent Levy over in such a way that even Tanguy N'Dombele would be saying "hang about mate you're taking the piss".

I'm not someone to dig out players who aren't playing well but I struggle to see the point in Werner being on the pitch at the moment.
Last season I could see the logic in the second half season loan but at least he produced something. Doesn't look like he will ever produce again in a Spurs shirt.

If any company had a liability costing circa £650k a month that was clearly underperforming and or not doing what it was supposed to do, they would either a) cut their losses or b) find out what the fuck is wrong with their underperforming asset and try and fix it, ie is its psychological.

To have Werner, Son and Richie all in the same team is madness. Son we can all remain loyal and understanding to, Richie, it’s time to cut loose and as for Werner….

In furtherance of your business expense analogy; do you understand that "cutting loose" Werner & Richarlison will not save us a single penny?
