Ex-Spurs Player Toby Alderweireld

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The most important thing is the club and if the club has a domino effect when it comes to other players at the club demanding as much as Toby, which Kane, Lloris, Dele, Eriksen and even Jan will be well within their rights to do so it becomes a real hassle. Even our second tier players will want in and it'll cause mayhem.
I think its wrong & naive to think players the only reason players won't ask for much more is because toby isn't getting much more. Kane will be getting much more. They all have agents too. I am sure they don't say your worth much more but toby ain't getting much more so its all good here. Stick to what your on.

As someone said he hopes all of this speculation will not affect the team as we are playing well. With that in mind why would the club risk making a final offer at this stage of the season rather than waiting until the season is over. Just does not make sense and I cannot recall the phrase final offer being used in the past. Toby is our best defender and I hope this story is false and an agreement is met. The article said the £110000 offer included bonuses. What is it worth without that and does he need to win the Premiership etc to actually get the full amount. Too many questions.

Here is the reality you racist cunt. Of those names mentioned Walker is the only player that was sold. A question should be asked, what are Spurs doing to keep their players?

And here's another, name me one club in World football who is more ambitious than Spurs that isn't owned by an entire Country?
Firstly I’m rehabilitated and I’ve served my time.

Secondly owned by an entire country ? I think you have got a bit carried away here.

The original story is that we could be selling him as the contract talks could break down....some Spurs tweeters jumped on it and now it's all definitely going to happen...think I'll wait a bit before twisting my knickers...

On a side issue, in the last 5 pages we've had three different guesses at Sissoko's wages...it's almost as if no one has a clue what the fuck he's earning.

Can I also add, it makes absolutely no difference what wages Sissoko is on. Sissoko whether you like him or not is a player that Poch trusts. He is a disciplined player, fills multiple roles, doesn't ask questions and works very hard whether he plays 10 mins or 90 mins. I am not a fan of the player but the truth is Poch likes him.

If we sell Sissoko, his wages are not going to Toby. It's far more likely they go to a new player, that poch cant trust, is disciplined, fills multiple roles, doesn't ask questions and works very hard.

We would also be allowing players to rule our squad. Should we then sell Lamela to afford Alli's wage demands or sell Son to afford Kane's?

Looking at the facts, Sky viewers are down 20% YoY, and what this current deal tells us is that TV companies have had enough of paying top dollar for a product that isn't as popular as people think.
I hope that is true & more people stop paying to watch it all. & It isn't 20% of sky customers have gone to BT instead.
I am with BT & used to pay about £15 extra for sky sports main event & football channels. But this season its up to £27.50 & I thought sod that. Time for the peoples football revolution! Lets make a stand!

You're are a racist cunt and I will call you out for it as and when I want to and as and when I choose to, which right now is every single time I chose to respond to your post(s), you've earned this rep, now you have to live with it. A pedo doesn't stop being a pedo because he tells everyone he's rehabilitated. You're rehabilitation isn't determined by you but by those you offended, you utter, utter racist cunt.

PSG and City are owned by sovereign states, what part of that is an exaggeration?

Going live to Mindblown...

Why have you got a pic of Mick Cooper Mick Cooper digging a hole in Surrey?

Hey Guido 🇺🇦 Guido 🇺🇦 fuck you.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

If you’re perfect then go right ahead, if not then shut the fuck up and get back on topic. Allow the man a 2nd chance to atone for his tasteless comment back in 2016 FFS.

Agree with this, but if the player is demanding parity with players who are at the very top of their game (like Harry Kane) then they have to be at the very top of their game too. Toby has been out injured.
Rose situation - exactly the same.

The timing of this breaking news is poor. The guy still has 2 years(?) left on his contract & for Martinez to say that he is having contract issues is not something he should be discussing. It’s given some weight to the rumours.

If he won’t sign an improved contract then his release clause is £25 million next summer as he goes into his final year? I wouldn’t be selling him before then. Sanchez & Foyth then get more time to bed in & flourish. Who knows how that will pan out? Whilst they are, they can still learn a lot from Toby & Jan. if Toby wants to then go and chase a mega deal, he can go for £25 million. His worth to us between now & then could be much more than the extra money we get from selling him now

He may even set foot inside the new stadium & think that he will make do with £100,000 a week.
True. Obviously we have our limits & I am not saying pay whatever he wants.
He deserves a good pay raise. If he still wants way more than yes we let him go.
If he won't sign then I too would like him to play & get as much out of him as we can. But that all depends on his attitude & poch who usually doesn't keep players who want out.
I don't like injured players asking for pay rises either but we don't know if the club want to negotiate during this time too.
If not, they could have said we will discuss your new contract in the summer.

A club of Tottenham Hotspurs statue can definitely afford to pay Toby 150k a week, even before of that extra revenue comes in.

Not buying for a second that we currently can't afford that. It's not like he's asking for £350k like Ozil at Woolwich - and the mugs actually paid him it!
We don't know for sure what our players actually earn, so any discussion about wages and whether we can afford it is guesswork. But, let's assume we upped Alderweireld's weekly wage from £50k to £150K. That's an additional £4.8m per annum we'd have to find. Given that we're not like West Ham or Crystal Palace (i.e only one or two 'key' players), what effect is such an increase likely to have on other squad members' wage demands?

Would, for example, the following players push for similar % increases or even wage parity?

Lloris, Rose, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Dele, Eriksen, Son & Kane (not to mention the impact such an increase might have on the wages of the new 'star' players we all want us to sign in the summer).

If so, that's up to £48m added to our annual wage bill, not including Alderweireld. You might reasonably argue they wouldn't all merit and/or achieve such an increase, but you can nonetheless see that a massive increase in one player's wages could have serious financial repercussions given our squad is full of 'key' players.

Right now, we pay around 50% of our annual revenue (the most recently-published annual report puts our revenue at around £210m, I believe) in wages. This is in line with our main rivals, with the exception of Liverpool (who pay around 60%). We also have a stadium to pay for.

To be clear, I'm not arguing against wage increases, but I do believe they should be in line with what we can afford rather than being based on what other, significantly wealthier clubs can afford. We'll have a much better idea what that might be within the next few weeks when our 16/17 report is published.

Can I also add, it makes absolutely no difference what wages Sissoko is on. Sissoko whether you like him or not is a player that Poch trusts. We would also be allowing players to rule our squad. Should we then sell Lamela to afford Alli's wage demands or sell Son to afford Kane's?
We are doing the same thing by saying we can't give this because him, him & him will demand more or leave.

So I’m on the level of a peadophile now ? You would still class an alcoholic as a drunk ? Ex drug addict as a druggie ? Wow. You do set high standards up their on your cross don’t you.

You said name a club that has more ambition than us in the world that isn’t owned by a country. Last time I checked Manchester United wasnt owned by a country. Woolwich ? Liverpool ? Chelsea ?

Maybe Bayern Munich ? Are they owned by a country ?

Stupid discussion although important.

Too many unknowns.

How much does the player want?
How much do we want to pay?
How much is the financial cost of a replacement?

Then the matter of perception which is based on how well we cope in the player's permanent absence.

Then 2 big ones. How much and to what extent does Pochettino want the player to stay and what affect om him if we are forced to sell? Forced through recompense as opposed to willing sellers?

My view is that it mighet be the domino effect that is the issue unless we win a trophy with Alderweireld having played a bit part.

Very difficult. Very modern.

Seems like the fan base is split on this. So let's try and apply fact to the argument.

No industry has seen this kind of growth from one revenue source (TV) like the PL has. When you look at the top earners, all their matchday revenue, shirt sales, endorsement deals have stayed relatively stagnant in the last 5/10 years whilst TV money has gone through the roof. Looking at the facts, Sky viewers are down 20% YoY, and what this current deal tells us is that TV companies have had enough of paying top dollar for a product that isn't as popular as people think (in terms of people paying for it).

So what does Levy see as the future? He assumes TV revenue is going to drop which has been the lifeblood of money for 95% of clubs (bar the top 8) in the PL. Make no mistake, teams have miscalculated their wage structure (Stoke, West Ham etc) and could easily do another Pompey and go bust.

Therefore the future looks like this... the power will start going back to the clubs and away from the players. Toby is approaching the latter part of his career and wants 150kpw over the next 4/5 years when in reality he probably only deserves that for 1 possibly two years.

IMO we pay a proper bonus structure. You succeed with this club over a season you get the equivalent of 150 per week. If not your paid what you deserve which is below the top clubs who consistently deliver Trophies/Top 4. As I see it only really Kane has broken that "World Class" bracket and deserves that kind of money.

Spot on. This is why part of the new strategy is about other revenue streams (NFL + Stadia events). Levy is looking for ways to maintain a steady growth without having the rug pulled out from under us. Teams like West Ham are fooked. They own nothing now as the owners have stripped them of all their real estate (however shit it was). I bet if they stay in the prem they will be up for sale within three years as the porno bothers want out.

How would a club look to lower wages? How would they do that without ruining team spirit and putting off any potential signings? It's possibly the worse situation you can be in.

That's another flaw with our strict wage policy. We will continue to not win major trophies which means the likes of kane who wants to stay if we win things will end up going. Then we will have to pretend llorente's better anyway & we coped well when kane was injured & missed the 2-0 win against barnet.
But we can sleep well knowing we are morally better than the likes of slave owning murderous city owners. But we will take their blood ££ no questions asked. I like to tell myself walker's 50m was ££ from TV deals & not that other bad stuff.
Stick to pissing on people who dared to celebrate a draw away to Juve, you know nothing prat.
