I've been to America and I sure I've seen pubs there. So why drink in a carpark

Are they near the grounds? They all bring folding chairs, beers and food, and sit around having a chat. I've been to Twickenham when the pubs are full and I can see why folk do it. It might happen in football, but as we plebs don't have cars, we don't have car parks. Natch.

Because you can't fit 60 or 70 thousand people in a pub, and everything around the stadium is cleared out for parking. We don't have train links or public transit between cities for games; everybody drives in that isn't more than a mile or two away from the stadium to begin with, and they're all students in the college game.

Most games are very far away from the bar scene, so we bring the pub to the game, basically. It's fun.

Why don't the clubs just put a massive marquee like Wigan do?

Funny, but I don't like to see outside the ground. I mean the current WHL is a 4 stander, but I like the enclosed feel. What do you think of the 'million seater' Nou Camp?

They tried to organise one for the NFL at Wembley once before they realised you can't actually drive cars in London
