Stadium Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We have the annual interest payments to pay, that’s what I meant. These extra events cover those payments, rather than match day revenue taking a hit.

Agreed . We can have (I think) 16 non football events every year - which will include NFL, rugby, boxing, music concerts etc.

And each of these will probably generate £2m+ on average each - mix of a flat fee/rental plus a share of catering, drinks etc. So probably £30m pa.

Not to mention inside the stadium is the 3rd largest conference & exhibition venue in London, which once out of covid will be a nice little earner effectively renting out the stadium space - and no doubt also using some of bars and eateries in the stadium or catering provided in the rooms. It wasn't operating for one season before covid stopped it - but its of a scale of business that might generate revenues of £50m-£100m a year, no idea what costs are but given its renting out space inside the stadium might well be generating another £25m+ cash profit a year.

So the non football side of the business will generate a healthy slug of money which can be used to both pay interest on the stadium and 'subsidise' the football side of Spurs (bond - debt - not repayable for some 20 years so no need to worry about capital repayments atm).

What do ya reckon Spurs make out of a night like last night? Just wondering if the its enough for the stadium to become self financing on the back of other events?

IIRC debt on the stadium @£25m per year.

So if we are pulling in say £1.5m per gig around 16 per year. Would be sweet if that the case but no idea if my figures are realistic.
I read something about us projecting roughly 5 mil off of the Joshua fight once the fighters and promoter took their cuts.

The beer thing is really as simple as the standing thing for me. Give people a choice. Have some drinking areas, and some dry areas. It's not hard. I do think it'll work better in standing areas too since it's nowhere near as disruptive when somebody walks past.

A compromise could also be that alcohol isn't served during the game, but pints purchased beforehand or at half-time could be taken in. Reduces the in-and-out, but also stops half-time being so mental. The idea that having a 5 minute window mid game realistically once you've queued etc to down a drink is helping behaviour doesn't add up to me.
It wouldn’t bother me if it is limited to standing areas because I won’t be anywhere near them, but it will be inevitable that everyone will get soaked every time we score because drinks in the standing areas will always be held rather than placed on the floor and there’s only one place for them to go once we score.

I would also question who would police it in other areas? I suppose the moany stewards could be retrained to say “no drinks” rather than “sit down”.

I didn't disagree, but nevertheless, the article is bollocks. As far as any of us know, the hack included, Levy hasn't said he won't have a statue of Greavsie, simply that there isn't one at the minute. That's a huge difference.

As for why there isn't one at the minute, there's a tradition of not erecting statues to or naming things like roads, buildings, stands and so on for living people.

Jimmy only left us a week ago. If there still isn't a statue or other commemoration in a couple of years, then fair enough, but at this point I'd say this piece is unnecessary
Bill Nicholson...
EDIT
I see others already mentioned BN.
What about the founders though? They are long since dead,a statue of them should and could have been unveiled when the stadium opened. That's would have been a real connection to our history.

I doubt it will be the last boxing there

Our daughter had a free ticket for this one, as she knows someone who works for the club.
As we only live a 10 minute walk from the ground, my wife and I decided to stroll down there to see what it was like outside. We were on the corner of Park Lane and Worcester Av. when these two blokes asked us if we had tickets. When we said no, they replied "Here, take these, we can't make it now"
Went in and were sat only 20 yards from the ring. Also, were just a few feet away from the fighters when they walked to the ring before the fight.

You cannot be Spurs fans even if you do live nearby, we never get that lucky

Heard a few horror stories of people trying to make their way home. Mate reckoned he had to wait for an Uber on the A10 to get back to Hertford. He wasn't really familiar with the area and was probably a few pints deep to be fair!

That's a great story. I would have definitely thought that was a trap!

Walking back home after, there were numerous clusters of people waiting for Ubers.
Literally all the way from the Antwerp Arms down to the Roundway.

Let this sink in.

This generation of fans will support a club that plays in a stadium aprox 80% owned by the banks.
The next generation of fans will support a club that plays in a stadium that is aprox 79% owned by the banks.
The generation after that will support a club that plays in a stadium that is aprox 78% owned by the banks.

We didn't need a stadium like this. Is it great? Yes of course it is. Is it ours? No. The more I go the more I look around, the more I see a multi sport arena where Spurs are just one tenant. I've never been one of those fans frothing at the mouth about the red AIA sponsor, but seeing it constantly flashed around the 3 tiers of advertising banners in bright red, I can't help but think I'm sat at the Emirates. There's nothing in my field of view that makes me think Spurs.
There's no white anywhere. I's drab grey concrete and plain seats so dark they could be anything from black, to grey to blue. You wouldn't know unless you got up close.

I wouldn't be surprised if the bald cunt tried to pull us out of the Premier League and move us into the eastern conference of the MLS (sorry if it's not called that but you know what I mean)

It was carnage getting away - imagine 70,000 pissed people who don't have a clue where they are going....

Hopefully Levy negotiated to keep the money taken over the bar, the prices were higher than usual and loads of people were arguing with the staff about the 4 drink per person rule when buying....

I mean this is literally just rubbish. We own the stadium by your theory nobody owns their home. And where you getting 3 generations from ? The biggest bond and last is £300m which is payable in 28 years. At least the stadium gives us a chance to compete on revenue.

Of course they don't own their home. What happens when you lose your job and don't pay your mortgage?
