So a post match report having taken mini-me for the first time.
We drove to Edmonton Green.
Satnav took us up the A2 through the Blackwall tunner then iirc the A406.
We parked at the shopping centre. There's a small car park sign posted as "short stay" but on the same sign, it also says 24hrs ??
Took a punt and parked in there. You pay on return. The sign said 20 minutes free, next hour £10? I asked a chap in the taxi office in the carpark and he said it was fine for longer.
Return to the car at about 11ish and the fee is £4 so who the hell knows?
The original plan was a half hour walk, but I was the only one keen on it (me, daughter and my brother)
So after trying out "Bim's" near the shops we hopped on the Overground train at Edmonton Green which is 2 stops to WHL.
All worked out nicely, no traffic, got there with plenty of time, no packed out trains.
Watch the match to the end. Again, I'd have just walked back to the car but littlun was moaning her "legs were tired" so reluctantly agreed to go to WHL again.
There was a queue and a bit of a squeeze but the thing that annoyed me was how dreadfully sign posted WHL station is from the stadium. I ended up going well, well out of my way going around the south stand and then double backing all the way down the west as the northbound entrance to WHL was north of the north stand, completely different to where we got off earlier.
Get back to the car, hit the nav to take us home. Much to my surprise it takes me towards the stadium, not away.
Headed towards the m11 with an eta of 11.38pm (about 50 minutes)
It's crawling all the way to the A13.
Get to the exit for the bridge and....tailbacks.
11.38 becomes 00.10 and it starts saying to double back up the A13 and go back through the blackwall tunnel. Fcuk that, I'm not "far" from home.
I took the chance and got on the bridge and it goes to 1.35am eta ffs.
And then after 15 minutes it goes back to 00.10am
Bridge is closed, so down to a tunnel.
So anyway, long story short, I'd probably have got home 30-45 minutes earlier without traffic and about the same on my usual trains.
