Stadium Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It is for us!

Beer was fresher today at least and quick getting served at half time as no one else seems to drink now! Scratching around for the positives 🤪
My half time experience today started just after the Roger’s goal. Off I went to the Tapp Inn @ 521.

“Pint of Madri” please. Given a pint of neck oil. Gave it back.

“No Madri please”. Slight smile and then a cup pissing beer out the bottom is offered for replacement.

Me, with a smile and a joke “nah not that one mate”. Beer changed. Got another pint, this time not leaking. But about 3cm from the brim.

“This is not full mate, in fact look, none of them are full”. All the beers sitting on the side were equally unfull as mine, if not worse.

“Look mate, it says pint to the brim on the side, this is not full”.

“Yeah. Your right”

“But none of them are full, a pint is a pint, you are not meant to sell a pint under poured”

“Oh. Do you want one of the others”.

At this point, I gave up. The place is a fucking joke at times.

It’s an amazing stadium , as good as any in the world and I 100% understand why we had to do it BUT the place is like a morgue , It doesn’t feel like we have any advantage playing there , even when we were crap in the 90s we were half decent at home , this run is nothing that I’ve ever known before . Yes the players have to lift the fans but even when we are doing ok it never feels at all intimidating.

A 30k stadium was totally uncompetitive. We needed the big stadium and can fill it but yes the atmosphere is not good enough. It needs the team performing as well as the fans to be more vocal.
The whole pre match drivel is not helping build up the games.

Today, I think we had four, maybe 5 different songs pumped out the speakers before kick off, then the passion killing kneeling ( just my view ) I don’t recall the trumpet today I assume that dropped for the kneeling, but it’s funereal at best when it’s played. Second half, Back to the 60’s with McNamaras band, nice nostalgia, but that’s not screaming a battle awaits is it ?

And who the hell is behind Barry Manilow pre kick off. Save it for the post game glory, it’s not working out pre game.

Stadium has been rocking and intimidating at times. But I do feel that a mixture of entitlement, apathy, tourists and pricing is killing the atmosphere.

We need an effective terrace full of hardcore youth and young adults. That’s what the South Stand should be. But it’s full of quiet moaning adults, 1882 members, and yes, day trippers and tourists.

It’s never going to happen but a £30 cap for U25s would help.

Agree on the price cap for 25 and under.
If you want atmosphere you have to change the demographic because the average age now looks like 60 plus.
Quite a few look like they won’t make it to the top tier without heart failure. Then they are in and out to the Gents every 10 minutes.

We have won 3 games in the last 18 at home in the league. The place has a shit atmosphere alot of the time because we are now accustomed to seeing poor football and ultimately our team losing.
Last game I was at was wolves where I was really surprised at how bad the atmosphere was but you look back and we go 1 nil down after 55 mins and we don't have a shot on target until we score in 94th minute.
Not only that but we never even came close to putting pressure on a team that had lost all 5 league games before playing us.
When performances improve so will the atmosphere but we've been shit for so long it's led to apathy

the last time I went to a home game was at the Old WHL,so don't know what its like now, do get to a couple of away games a season and you have to look around to see any youngsters ( maybe 1 in 10 youngsters) when we first started going away most of us there were 14 to 25 years old

Eeek. I generally go to the brewery - they hadn’t pre poured and don’t have the bottom up cups which helps.

The atmosphere is crap because the football is crap.

Plus the ticket prices are some of the highest in the world and so only a certain section of society who can afford that price can go, so you're never going to get the older atmosphere back.

I used to go to every game when I was 13 years old because you could just tip up on the day and pay 7 quid at the turnstiles for standing on the terrace - only games you couldn't do that were Woolwich and Man U for some reason as they were the sold out. Never really questioned the atmosphere once as it always seemed rocking.

Nowadays it's just such a faff to even get a ticket - especially for a game that you'd actually want to see. The club just seems determined to rinse every last penny out of the fans these days and doesn't give a toss about the experience.

I tend to only go down in the last minute before kick off so didn’t realise they play cswy. Not exactly a good song to get you going. Think the 2pm games seem to always struggle for atmosphere.

The trumpet did play btw.

Same here, don't get to games live very often and never away ... I would love to do that but no idea how to get a ticket. If you want it loud you have to have that 18-25 group in the ground.

3 seats (safe standing) to the right of me with what must have been tourists (again) - Older fella, with a lad and a girl, not one song joined in with, sat down most of the second half so wouldnt be able to see and fecked off 15 minutes before the end. They looked pissed off having to keep standing to let people past. I wonder why they bother.

ST holders in these seats maybe come to 50% games a season if that - nice lads, who apparently have around 400 points and so can get all away games etc.

I get what people are saying about the atmosphere but what about the other big grounds? I hear our away supporters at these grounds out singing the home support. So are they not also having similar problems? When I used to stand, you had to get a good spot and so were in position way before KO and that helped build the atmosphere. None of this drinking in the bar and going to your seat at the last minute.
Even at home now instead of watching all the build up, I only switch on about 5 mins before KO and all you get on Sky is a load of adverts although that can be better than the rubbish their pundits say.

The old stadium was 36k from memory. I know the reasons for making it as big as possible, I remember reading through all the drawings of seating and stand angles when it was being designed. However, it seems like there are just too many people there for a day out rather than to watch the game.

I definitely agree it hasnt helped us being shit since we have moved in there. I can probably count on one hand the amount of good atmospheres we have had for a full 90 minutes. There havent been many. Not that there were loads in the old place too of course.

I would say that round me in 257 it is the older fans who actually make the noise. The ones under 25 dont seem to want to get involved.

But it comes down to prices in the end. There is no way with them money in the game tickets need to be as expensive as they are.

the atmosphere at the emirates and west ham is shite too. think it's a london thing with very large stadiums.
Upton park, WHL and Highbury had much better atmosphere. Comparable to what you get now at palace

A key difference is the fanbase as well. Football is getting more and more americanized, consuming everything else but the sport itself. Additionally with this new stadium (similar to other new stadiums), a larger group of people visiting has no connection to the club. It is more of a tourist attraction than a place where it is going to be tough for the away team. And it doesnt help with away fans being more vocal in general.
