It's true that an apostrophe can be used when letters are omitted, but this doesn't seem correct.

I agree, it doesn’t look correct but as far as my knowledge of the vernacular goes I believe it is acceptable.

It’s probably down to the fact that ref’ is commonly written without the apostrophe even though it should have it. Maybe its use is so common that ref has become a word itself?

They just make the VAR rules up as they go along, nobody has a fucking clue which way is up. Take the handball against West Ham last weekend where he leans down to stop the ball arriving at Kanes feet, and then contrast to the one given against us against Newcastle a couple of seasons ago by VAR where Dier was facing the other way and it struck his arm.

You hear all the bollocks about it not being a clear and obvious error, and then like today they totally ignore it.

GET IN SKIPP!

Fuck these cunts up!

It's totally bollocks.....

The ref was going to card Ziyech for the initial challenge..... So first yellow......

He then should have had a second yellow or straight red for the punch /push in the face....

It was either a straight red.... Or it should have been a second yellow....

Either way Ziyech should have been off.

But the twats in commentary and the studio all missed the actual order of incidents.
