Match Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The two most detestable clubs on the planet are these Cunts and Woolwich, the games I hate to lose the most and we've lost 5 out of 5 against them. Losing to theses 3 times in a decade is unacceptable let alone 3 times in a season.
We must win, we simply must win. They are still crowing about beating us twice I can't even begin to imagine what they'd be like if they beat us 3 times.
This season has been horrible thanks to some of our results but I'm prepared to forget the entire season and never mention any of the bad results again, as long as we beat them tomorrow.
I'd settle for a dirty 1-0 win but I want a 4 or 5 thumping. I just want a win to shut these Cunts up..

I'll be there but I reckon I'll be watching through my spread fingers, I'm more nervous about this game than any game I can remember for a long long time..
fence sitter.......

Massive game as always. Team I hate most in the universe, and they've beaten us both times so far this season. Losing to them in the Lge Cup was the worst result of Tim's tenure so far, and it took me quite a while to forgive him for that. Still very unhappy about it, but with Daws getting suspended he was left with a weakened team/squad. Still think he could have done better though.

Anyway, let's win this one.

I can't wait for this one, but I am worried. Fat Sam needs a win in the worst way. We absolutely should win this one, but after last week my confidence has been a little shaken.

I have supported Spurs longer than I care to mention and can't honestly remember when they started hating us so much? I understand completely why people now hate them (me included) for all of the shit we get from their supporters but it wasn't always so. After woolwich it's a tough call between spam and chavs who I detest more but to be honest I don't like any of the other London clubs. Fucking stripey Nigels always give us a hard time in fact they all do! Maybe we just need to get better against them all I guess. Cunts

Hi DF, I remember in the 60s there was no such vitriol as there is now. I went to West Ham with a few Spurs fans, a West Ham fan, a Man U fan (the dreaded 'cockney red') who was supporting West Ham. We stood together, and had some banter, and I wasn't remotely scared.

It was a game of football, a great game BTW, the 'classic in the mud', Greaves and Gilly for us after Hurst and Peters for them. We were right behind the goal where we scored. I can close my eyes and hear the swish of the net, like it was yesterday. England, yep Mike England, dancing down the wing to set up Greaves' goal, great memories. Now I wouldn't even go to that hellhole, let alone sit amongst a mixed crowd of Spurs and West Ham fans.

The hatred started building from them in the 70s I guess, as the hooliganism grew, plus other factors. I remember last time I went in 1980, it was vivid, intense, and fucking nasty. They looked to ambush fans on the tube trains amongst other places, I think an oppo fan (Millwall?) had died not long before under the wheels of a train. I was stood amidst commuters as the 'Ammers got on the train looking for Spurs. I remember the fear and disgust as they worked their way past me.

We lost that time, but I was never going back, win or lose.

It all then get worse re us and them as they decided that Woolwich were out of their lge, they were out of Millwall's lge, so we must be rivals. I began to notice the difference as I moved jobs and the easy banter of my 60s schooldays and workmates in the 70s started to turn confrontational.

The day of the norovirus sealed it for me. Their reaction that day and 100% support for Woolwich meant there was no going back, they were the most hated for me from then on.

Another reason BTW, is the move from London to the new towns and Home Counties. This is particularly marked in Essex, where West Ham dominate, but in some places Spurs dominate, and the clashes can get very severe as New Town cockneys can be a bit 'tasty', on both sides, to say the least :).

Reading your post greaves357 brings back so many memories. I think around '72-'73 I was at the lane with my elder brother. We were in the park lane and I think then the away fans were in the lower standing area and we were in the seating behind? I was only a youngster so my brother always tried to keep me safe. I remember half time getting a coffee and the WH fans were leering through the fencing that segregated and never being so scared. Reckon they didn't like us much by then. We won 2-0 so at least that was good! I think your summing up of their gradual hatred is spot on. But not sure they will ever really be considered our rivals unless they get a ton of money and start winning stuff..

HI DF, always good to swap memories. Quite often in the 70s away fans got in the Park Lane, depending on the exact year, it was sometimes an 'honour' for away fans to 'take' the Park Lane. I remember in the 70s Millwall getting there early and doing just that. It was a Lge Cup game so not such a big crowd.

But again the turn around in just a few years. Because in 67 I was there in a FA Cup replay 50,000+ crowd (probably 55,000+ as many spectators didn't get 'counted' in games like that), I was in the Park Lane right behind the goal. There was no hooligan end, I don't know where the Millwall fans were, but quite likely some were in the Park Lane. Now, for sure, Millwall had a 'hard element' even then. But it was just a great, electric atmosphere. We nicked it near the end, Greavesie's shot, pushed out by the keeper, Gilly's there to knock it in. Pandemonium, again I remember it like yesterday, we went on to win the Cup that year.

Re 'rivals'. I agree that West Ham aren't our rivals in the way they pretend or like to pretend they are. We're sooooooo far ahead of them in history, trophies, income, glamour, lge finishes, fanbase, etc.

BUT, if they get a billionaire benefactor owner on the back of the OS, they could do a 'Chelsea' on us, and overtake us in time.

Some big names there who played for both clubs. Great history. Could do with a bloody Sheringham in front and a Ruddock at the back now. Flip few mid fielders in there I'd fancy in my Spurs side as well. Ah time...it's a f...ng bastard hey. :coys:
