TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Liverpool

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Trouble is it doesn't stay friendly, especially online. I'm quite capable of having a face-to-face conversation with other supporters but come on here to discuss everything Spurs with like minded people, ie totally biased towards us! So I see other supporters as unwanted gate crashers ...... and I'm the voice of reason of this forum.
And an authority on sailing on cruise ships Mrs P!

Nothing to do with segregation

Italian fans there were friendly and wanted a good time and were attacked by these mindless scum

Were you there? Many accounts say the Juventus fans were the first to break up bits of the stadium and throw them at the scousers, and the previous year they'd been subjected to horrendous abuse in the final against Roma in Rome. So the charge arguably was aimed at driving back the fans that were throwing things. A wall collapsing in a decrepit stadium was not something they could have foreseen, and arguably Tottenham fans' behaviour against Feyenoord was considerably worse but the stadium wasn't a crumbling wreck so there were no unforeeable occurrences, such as a wall collapsing.

I love Scouser bashing as much as the next men but they were unfairly treated in both the Heysal and Hillsborough disasters imo.

No I wasn’t there but at the time I worked with a Scouser who went and came back traumatised

He was disgusted with the Dipper fans behaviour and totally blamed them for what happened

He saw some Italian fans good naturedly offering to swap scarves before the game getting savagely beaten for instance

When I first saw the game on tv I also blamed the local police and lack of segregation but listening to first hand accounts of this guy and others I changed my mind

So with my personal experiences of going to Anfield no one is going to alter my opinion of Scousers

I fucking hate them but I’m not ignorant to think they’re all scum

Just 99% of them

It's funny, I keep finding myself saying

"this is the big one, this will kick-start our season and show our intent"

But in truth, when you're pushing for the title every game is a big one, we can't afford to slip-up as someone else will be waiting in the wings to leapfrog us. What I do know, watching the RM game, gave me a feeling i've not experienced in several years. I was on edge, concerned, hopeful we could just contain them, all of a sudden I realised I no longer feel this on a weekly basis, I go into every game confident until the final whistle, rarely panicking, more enjoying the spectacle... How times have changed, I didn't notice the shift, it's been a gradual thing over the last three seasons but we've come a very long way.

So true, we used to feel that way against the old top four twice a season each plus against one or two other comparable clubs around our level. Nowadays I never feel that way in the league, I always expect to win. Just not scared of the Chelsea's, Utds, etc any more. Certainly not afraid of little Liverpool.

It felt amazing feeling nervous against Real.

The problem with all scousers is they have a double chip on each shoulder, all of 'em have no concept of responsibility, just blame everyone else .... remember it was Liverpool fans who killed 39 people at Heysel and got us banned from Europe.... yet we don't see that getting the same endless focus feckin' H'boroug does .... we can't stand anymore due to these feckwits ...

Been to Anfield many times .... massively overrated and now looks like a ridiculous meccano set .... the ground, the team, and the fans are all out off the last century ... feckin' detest 'em all .... never met one who doesn't believe that a team that's achieved bugger all in the last 25 years is not the biggest club in the World ... stupid arrogant tossers .... hope we smash 'em
Your comment about Heysel is not correct The people responsible for this were found tried and sent to prison. I am not 100% sure but I don't think any of them were from Liverpool. Hillsboro is another matter. The people in charge there were incompetent and instigated a cover up blaming drunken supporters and even going to far as to take blood samples from dead children trying to prove they were drunk. If I am not mistaken I think Spurs fans were involved at Hillsboro one or two years earlier and many of them were lucky to come out of a similar crush without injury. By all means dislike Liverpool as much as you want but try to put the facts in front of your hatred before making stupid comments about Hillsboro

I get that, and times have changed, I personally don't have the same views as him as I don't have the personal experience he had up there that day.

I moved up to the north a couple of years ago from London and I actually don't find Liverpool supporters, particularly scousers to be too bad generally one on one. I've met a couple of dick heads but on the whole they know and appreciate decent football. I tend to find the fan base outside of that area however a bit more unbearable and clueless.

Maybe because they are a more casually supported club, because of a larger fan base is a factor. But this makes Liverpool and it's support a far easier target than say Everton who are based what less than a mile away who I don't think anyone holds the same view of.

That is a very fair comment

Sadly true. However....

That guy deserves a medal.

I hope you wore a black armband afterwards for the death of your perfectly coiffed hairstyle.'''
Very funny but I never have had hair like that. If I could have got to the other side of the bars that the bastard threw the coffee through I would have given him a medal alright. Not sure but I think we lost that game as well. A perfect fucking day

That's fine, but anyone who pitches up at a rival forum and then is indignant that they are getting grief seems a bit silly, especially given that this is a mostly unregulated forum and because of that many of the rival fans that come here are either coming to troll or generally tell us how much better their club is.

It's like walkiing into a mosque and then wondering why you get funny looks when you ask to quietly sit in the corner and eat your bacon sandwich.
Im fine with that but for fucks sake give me grief for a reason other than supporting Liverpool .I suppose thats to much to ask . OK give me all the grief you want. I shall continue to be the perfect gentleman.

And you can. The trick is to avoid (ignore) the cunt-off posts. As a Liverpool fan you will see a lot of them.

Liverpool is just so fucking annoying to us, and I would guess most other fans, because they are extremely overrated by the media, both in terms of status and quality.

Ahead of the recent Lpool vs MU fixture there was a week of massive attention from the media in Norway, with talks of the biggest game of the year! Bloody United vs Liverpool. Last season's fifth vs fourth. Last 8 seasons for Liverpool: Two times top four, avg. position 6th. Last four seasons for United: avg position 5.5th. That's the biggest game of the year? We've already, prior to that game, had a London derby featuring last season's winners vs runners up! Fuck off, media!

And one of the reasons we detest Liverpool fans, is that many of the most vocal ones are like the media: Insisting on their greatness, insisting that any tournament needs Liverpool, insisting that they deserve the attention, believing that they can buy any player they want.

However, there are some decent fans as well. Humble, realistic fans, knowledgeable, who can admit that they aren't what they used to be. If you are that fan, you can probably find a good discussion here.

I dont think Liverpool can ever be what they used to be unless some despot or Oligarch buys the club and spends unlimited amounts of cash. If that was the case I think I would sooner stay as we are. When we were winning everything it was done from Shankly starting in the second division. We never had the Littlewoods pools money . That was Everton several years earlier. Our Chairman was one of the Moores family but he wasn't that rich.

You just prove my point .... never a scousers fault always someone else .... Heysel not the Dippers fault? it never is ....... let's just pretend it never happened ....

Heysel disaster of 1985 is football's forgotten tragedy and Liverpool and Juventus' minimal reaction prolongs hurt

Ridiculous the petty hate/dislike for a club that has done us no wrong . A real working class football club with an incredible local fan base with success came the glory hunters . They never bought their glory as City/Chavs do today . Fantastic managers , money spent wisely , in some years we spent more than they did as well as others .
Everyone has glory hunters/plastics with silverware our large fan base has an element from the 61 and early 80s .
Seeing those clips of the Kop signing Beatles songs before a game back in black and white shows a steadfast pride l can only admire .
None of us will have the glory of our golden years as the corrupt financially doped
Clubs have all the keys.
However it doesn't mean l don't want to stuff them .

You have no point What you have is a biased blind lack of logical understanding. I never said it wasn't the Lverpool fans fault I merely pointed out that none of the people prosecuted were from Liverpool. Still lets not let facts spoil your opinion eh.

We (Liverpool) seem to have the newbie jeebies over Spurs so Sundays game should be interesting. On thing I can't understand is why the hatred for people you have never met. Nobody loves the game more than me but I don't hate anybody because they are Spurs Woolwich Chelsea etc supporters.
You have to understand that most of us are Southerners, so our main experience of Liverpool fans is the glory-hunting soulless southern Liverpool fans. They started supporting you when you were good and can’t admit what a big mistake they made so delusionally still cling to the notion that you are a European giant. That combined with the massive over representation in the media makes you one of the most loathsome clubs out there.
None of the above mentioned glory-hunters I know are yet willing to admit we are a bigger club than you. Win some browny points on here and admit we are the bigger club

Very good post and I hope we stuff you but a draw against a very good Spurs side would not be a disaster for me. Pochetino has Spurs playing some great stuff. I wonder what will happen when Madrid or their ilk try to get him on board. I would hope that he stay where he is.
