It’s the same with both scenarios, don’t think they’re counted towards XG at all. The algorithm isn’t “expecting” players putting into their own net or Forster’s second calamity.

So many lazy generalisations... I'm 45 and live in England, so I assume I'm an old British man. Like most things in life it's not hating something per see, life is night black and white. The problem is managers asking players to do things they ar3nt capable of. Tonight shows that spurs aren't great at doing it. As a manager you play to your strengths ... you can experiment, you can practice but If something don't work you domt just keep flogging a dead horse

Now this is something I'll get laughed out of town for but I believe same Allardyce is a better manager that Pep... I'm not saying he's more successful.. pep Is a better coach. A good manager gets the best out of the people who work under him. Sam was not a long ball merchant unless the squad he took over suited it.... this is another huge issue, the nonsense that suggests there is a right way to play football. It's bull. Yes football is entertainment but winning is more important. I'd be more than happy for spurs to win something like the old Wimbledon team.

Yes I know pep has won 4 titles in a row but to be fair that's the bare minimum he should achieve. One leicester city title is the equivalent if 20 man city titles.

Being a good manager is subjective, depending on the club you are at success is relative. When David moves got Everton to the champions league that's relative success, when my home town club Hereford United got to league 1 and beat Leeds United at Elland Road that's relative success ... yes they got relegated but it's knowing yoir place. Success us not just trophies.

"Booting the ball " up the pitch is ok... your assumption is it's aimless, but again the media and fans who are snobs that is the problem. When man city do a long ball it's the best thing since sliced bread, when wigan had a long ball against man city in the fa cup and will grigg scored as the bbc commentator said it was a "hooked ball". If that was man city we all know it would have been the perfect pass.

We need to remember all players up to the bottom of league 2 are professional. They aren't cloggers. The main differencer between league 2 players and Premier league players,is consistency of lack of. They are all very capable of doing what premier league players so.

I swear I remember a spurs goal at the cottage where the keeper kicked it long and I think berbatov flicked it for Keane to score. I domt think the ball touched the ground but sky and people were waxing lyrical about what a great goal it was. If that was a Sam team against Liverpool it would have been long ball.

Anges nationality has nothing to do with it. It about doing something that the players aren't comfortable doing. If pep went to Accrington he still try play his football, if Sam went there he'd play to the players strength. (The fact Sam is English is in no way me suggesting English managers are better. It's just one example?

Anyway spurs won.....

Not my rules, the two legs works for us this season as the second leg is February we should have more numbers to choose from. Villa Park, Old Trafford, Molenieux, Hillsborough iconic semi venues but were FA Cup. Not the League/ Milk/ Rumbellows/ Carling/ Carabou cup

Bissouma was Good in the first half but didn't cover enough in the last quarter. Sarr, fortunately was on form and that helped. With Bissouma tiring, Maddison had to drop deeper too, It left us toothless in front.

Either Ange should have ditched the high line and should have arranged the team more defensively, to rather catch united on the counter. Or he should have made subs sooner so the high press could have been kept as a high press and not a mid press .

I’m fucking delighted with that. How many senior players out? Nine? We should be losing with that many out, certainly against a decent side. And they are a decent side. Not great, but not shite.

Swinging for the fences throughout, scored 4. Committed comedic errors. Scored directly from a corner. Panic, fun, entertainment, joy. Through to the semis.

The fact that some on here are absolutely fucking raging we won makes it all the more delicious.

I’m not a massive XG fan, their first goal would be something like 0.95 XG as it’s a tap in from one yard. Solanke first goal will be under 0.3 despite it being a chance most PL strikers would expect to score. Overall we end up with sub 1 XG, our first 3 goals weren’t exactly screamers from nowhere.
