Here's another chaotic sequence.
This starts with Kepa coming out of his line to pick up a corner delivered into the box. Romero for whatever reason first decides to hang around, and then actually starts pressing the opposing leftback instead of getting back. Huh?
Solanke is fully committed to their LCB, Sarr is marking someone, and Son is in the close vicinity of a player himself (#12). Fine. But what is Bergvall doing in no man's land there? I guess he was about to press their LB but hesitated due to Romero doing what he did.
The ball finds its way to their RCB who has been unmarked from the beginning. As soon as Son rotates to him in a rush, he finds the wide open RB (#4). Sarr follows the play to pick up Son's previous assignment (#12), but Spence the LB for whatever reason bombs forward to press their RB (#4), despite another defender (Romero) also being further up the pitch. Who's covering for all these people at the back?
Bentancur, despite being the only midfielder at the back since Sarr and Bergvall are both higher up the pitch, has to cover for Spence by rotating to the left. He intercepts the initial pass, but it goes right back to the opponent who delivers his pass the second time around. We're in trouble.
That is sad honestly. Porro ends up at CB since Romero has been nowhere to be found from the start, and Danso is dragged to the left to cover for all the aforementioned people that are left behind the play. And Odobert (?) tries to track back to possibly cover for Porro . What a mess.
Thankfully the Bournemouth player (Kluivert?) messes up the final ball which is intercepted by Porro and ends up in the hands of Vicario. As you can see there's a player open on the edge of the box, and another one running behind Romero.
Calling this pressing is an insult to the teams that actually know how to press, such as Bournemouth. This is just running around like headless chickens, there's no logic or structure behind it.
