Match TSG 1899 Hoffenheim v Tottenham Hotspur | Thursday 23rd January | Rhein-Neckar Arena | 17:45

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Will be there. Hoffenheim has a really bad season too. 1 win in 11 vs the worst team in the league...

Can't see us getting anything here. Hoff are having a terrible season but they got a win yesterday albeit against the bottom side. I don't even know if we got 10 fit senior outfield players. Could be a right mashup. Getting the impression Romero and VDV don't fancy it right now. They're taking their time to come back

Can't see us winning this.

TBH this might be one where we are forced into resting players for Leicester. We don't go out of the competition with a loss in fact I think we are pretty much a shoe in for the next round we just have to play the extra game if we don't win our next two.

Please correct me If I'm wrong but I think that's how the format works.

:(

My god........ So much for the previous "free-hits" and the "it doesn't matter if we don't win all our earlier games" sentiment.

Austin
Porro / Dragusin / Davies / Gray

+ no other options in defense.

Sarr / Berg / Maddison
+ Bentancur (maybe)

Kulu / Richarlison (hopefully!) / Son
+ Moore, Lankshire

+ kids.

Brutal.

Son can't play more than once a week so I'd suggest Moore starts, Son on bench

As Richarlison has just come back from injury I'd start Lankshear and consider bringing Richarllison on at HT - less chance of Richarlison getting re-injured.

Bentancur should be back as the Hoffenheim game is 15 days after Liverpool game when he got concussed, and concussion protocol is 2 weeks out.

we would need to play 2 extra games (home and away) if we do not finish in top 8, so better to avoid if we can

Just predicting..........

I'd happily start MM & WL.

Our bench of players from today who are eligible to play EL :

Austin, Hardy, Reguilon, Olusesi, Ajayi, Min-Hyeok, Lankshear. Richarlison, Moore - so likely we need to find another 2 youngsters to fill our bench (with Spence out but Bentancur returning)

With so many injuries I'm really surprised we do not seem to have thought of bringing back a couple of our loanees who did well on preseason and are List B (so can easily be added to EL squad - issue is we cannot reloan them so need to ensure they get some minutes for rest of season to ensure they'd develop - I'd be tempted to bring back :

Alfie Devine - the most experienced and although a CM who can at a pinch play on wing I think we need to play him for rotation, and given Bissouma is inconsistent, as likely to get a 3/10 as an 8/10 I think Devine could be more consistent at say 6.10 or 7/19

George Abbott - DM who can play RB (did so for most of PL 2 winning season which he captained last season) and even LB at a pinch. Could rotate with Porro leaving LB position to Spence and Gray until Udogie is back. Has taken to playing mens football like a duck to water, albeit at L2 Notts County

Phillips (CB) is not List B this season so couldn't play in next 2 EL games and we'd need to create a space for him in next EL squad, so probably not worth it.

Above table is roughly applicable: Pedro Porro, Ragu Dragusin, Archie Gray, Heung-Min Son, Dominic Solanke. We're dead on our feet as the games continue to come think and fast. None of these 6 players should/can play in this game

Forster

Right back? Centre Back? Ben Davies Left Back?

Bergvall Bentancur Maddison

Right Wing? Richarlison Moore

Austin, Sub? Sub? Sub? Sub? Sarr? Sub? Sub? Sub? Lankshear?

Not available: Vicario, Kinsky, Romero, van de Ven, Spence, Udogie, Bissouma, Odobert, Yang, Johnson, Werner, Solanke

Should rest: Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Kulusevski, Son

It's just another away game that we should win but probably won't. Not going to bother writing what the team should be. He will play the kids, piss about with it at the back, at most get a draw, then blame Timo Werner.
