Here's a fun question.

It looks like we will be competing in the International Champions Cup at the end of July and (as in 2016 www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/international-champions-cup-squad-220716/
) we will be short of first team players, this year due to the World Cup, and will need to take about 10 players from the development squad or Academy.

Who would you take assuming that Kyle Walker-Peters and Josh Onomah are on the plane already ? Assume we are short of players in all departments so need players to cover say (but happy for example to take 3 AM's and 1 striker or players who cover more than one position - or even assume 12 players ) :
2 x Goalkeepers
2 x Defenders
2 x CM's
2 x AM's
2 x Strikers

Maybe :
GK - Whiteman and Austin as they have both impressed
Defenders - Tangana and Walkes (probably will not make it as Spurs but a reliable option ?). Other option is probably Eyoma ?
CM's - Skipp, Oakley Boothe and maybe Amos
AM's - Bennett and Georgiou (and Edwards if still here)
Strikers - Sterling and Griffiths or Harrison

Very interesting question indeed. Here's who I'd take. Some surprise inclusions.

Goalkeepers: Whiteman and Austin.

Defenders: Tanganga, Eyoma and Maghoma.

Cm's: Skipp and Pritchard.

Am's: Georgiou and Bennetts

Strikers: Sterling and possibly Griffiths if he is still here.

Doesn't this fit well for John McDermott's philosophy anyway, he wants his players to play in more than one position and to that effect often selects one or two players per game to play in a different position. Walker-Peters has played both left and right back, along with right wing. Skipp has played as a number 10 (I think??) CM and DM and wasn't he recently playing at CB too.

??

I think that McDermott's philosophy is to move players round different positions to both find their 'best' position as well as better understanding what is required in each position - the idea being that if you end up playing CM its better if you know what a winger wants before you pass to him. It also fits Poch's philosophy who wants a flexible squad who can play in multiple positions to cover others and make in game tactical changes without making substitutions - which is why he likes Son (AM/striker, Dier (DM/CB), full backs who can play left and right.....and even Kane (striker/GK !).

On a serious note many of the younger players listed above have played a reasonable amount of game time in several positions - the most extreme perhaps being Griffiths who was playing CB, FB and winger and perhaps other positions until the season before last when he became a striker !

Positions some of the others have played include Skipp (DM/CB), Bennetts and Georgiou (both winger and FB), Tangana (CB/LB), Eyoma (CB/RB), Pritchard (CM/AM), Amos (DM/CB/LB).....
