Match Villa v Spurs - FA Cup - 9th Feb - 17:35pm KO

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I grew up on the island of Ireland amongst Rangers fans, so when Celtic played Porto and lost in 2003, some Rangers fans recognised that a win for Portugal does not benefit Scotland or the British Isles. No team from Portugal or Scotland had won the UEFA Cup. Rangers had won the domestic treble already that season and another Scottish team doing well in Europe that year only validated their achievements more within the UK and the world. Of course they don't want Celtic to do better than them at anything, but part of them would not have minded any Scottish team being the best in Europe, as they were the best in Scotland.

Also, when Rangers last won the league in 2011 before going bankrupt and Gerrard etc., they had 4 players from the island of Ireland in their squad, and 5 players from the island of Ireland the next season. To say Celtic is the only Irish club is like saying Tottenham is the only Jewish club, when clearly Spurs don't play in Israel and Woolwich and Chelsea have a similar representation in reality beyond the stereotype.

I stand by my point that Liverpool, Everton, Rangers and Celtic all have similar levels of Irish influence.
What part of Ireland you from?

I would like to see Mrs Perryman Mrs Perryman put in charge of the team , we would go down swinging at least .
Just realised the swinging double entendre

How does this happen at this level at all, let alone inside the first minute of the match? Four players recklessly running after the ball after being caught off guard initially, yet still leaving the simplest pass available for Rodgers to make. Similar stuff kept happening over the course of the whole match by the way, with Kinsky keeping the scoreline respectable.

These players can't press because they have not been taught how to, not because they lack the physical attributes or the desire. Redknapp would be proud of how much they run around, but it doesn't keep them from being torn apart against any team that can string three passes together.

That shot speaks volumes about our coaching and organisation!

I hope this clueless clown 🤡 gets fired by lunchtime tomorrow!

Mind you lots of the supporters had gone by then

FWIW : I watched, disbelieving in a pub . Couldn’t imagine we’d be that bad

Maybe it was where the pitch side microphones were located ; but it sounded like a home game to my ears .

Whoever is on the coach with you ; let them all know that
( irrespective of events on the pitch ) you’re a credit to your Club and then some .

They / We are VERY lucky to have you ( all ) .

This is even worse than the first goal. All 3 CMs (Bergvall-Bentancur-Kulusevski) ending up right next to each other trying to press all the way up the pitch, yet the player who is about to receive the ball has a simple pass to make (to #8). As can be expected, in a couple of seconds, it turns into this;

All the aforementioned three, being caught behind the play, are desperately trying to get back to no avail. The player closest to the opponent (Moore?) is putting up a valiant effort even though it's not his job. Worried about the two runners, rightfully so, back 4 starts to backpedal instead of stepping up. So it ends up like this;

This sort of stuff kept happening over and over again, so this is not me cherrypicking a one off incident. This has nothing to do with injuries, tired legs, or poor quality in general. Just coaching, or lack thereof.

Look where Porto is -a full back -to stop them from scoring!!!!

Like kids football this.

Belfast. I'd argue that Belfast is more similar to Liverpool than Dublin is to Glasgow. Less sectarianism in Liverpool though.

Fascinating and relevant; to things that have nothing to do with the abject spectacle we witnessed today.

To bring it back on topic : we’re the Titanic ( brilliantly engineered and constructed - in Belfast) ; yet owned by a vainglorious shipping company and commanded by an unproven arrogant and ultimately self-defeating Captain.

There ; we’re back on track .

I am not sure whereabouts in Belfast you grew up mate but as far as I know there has only been two ROI players that ever played for Rangers. Davis, Lafferty etc are not from 'The Island of Ireland' - they are NI internationals and consider themselves British. To say that Rangers have 'Irish influence' in any way shape or form is just plain wrong unless you are trying to make some kind of political point about NI.
You are talking shite sir.
