Match We can be heroes (again) Ajax versus Tottenham Hotspur CL Semi Final Wed 8th May

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I've never told this story...

The morning of "that night" we found out my wife had a miscarriage. After years of trying we had finally gotten pregnant and it ended with tears. Of course the game helped soothe some of the pain but obviously we were devastated.

A couple years later we got pregnant again. This time it worked out and our beautiful boy was born. We thought it fitting to name him Lucas. He's now 2 and loves watching "Tah-num" games.
Thanks for sharing that.

I hope Lucas has a long and happy life x

That was a fun read and the following several pages.

The Ajax players dropping dead when the goal goes in is somewhat amusing.
My favourite was the footage of the dutch bars where they were all counting down the last ten seconds and... it all goes a bit wonky around 1. Such an unbelievable moment, still.

Honestly even if we won the thing I don’t think it would have beat the moment that third goal went in. It was a level of ecstasy one can only achieve through otherwise illegal means

I said in the first leg that their keeper would give us something. Apart from the fumble, as we were bearing down for the winner, from my place in the stadium I could see that Onana had moved too far to his right.
'He's too far over' I said to no one in particular, then time slowed down and Lucas drifted in and gently stroked the ball into the corner beyond the slow motion dive of Onana.
Cue a second of absolute shocked silence and you know the rest.
What do you think? Not too dramatic? :pochshock2:

I can still picture the sight line of the goal from my seat in the stadium. Just the most incredible evening and night for a fan who loves away days. And then basking for a couple of weeks afterwards knowing that I was going to see my team in a CL Final… let’s just leave it there.

come on you spurs champions league GIF

Very sad to think that third goal was literally the peak of our story arc - its been completely downhill since this night for 5 years.
Absolutely gut wrenching tbh.
We had already passed our peak imo. Walker left, Vertonghen was slowing down, we sold Dembele the Jan before and Vic Wanyama had gone too..
