And as people have witnessed since the rule change, all teams now do take it seriously. The only doubtfuls are those teams, you guessed it. that were looking high probability of qualifying through their domestic leagues.
Take away the CL spot and the EL becomes the nothing cup. Yes the premier league gets six teams in it next year. So what? It's the strongest league and the premier league teams bring in the revenue, and that suits everyone.
I take this all back if Man U qualify. That should go without saying.
