“Wildly offensive and ill informed”
I came to the conclusion a while back that the most I’ve ever loved this club was as a child.

I didn’t go to games - maybe one a year. They weren’t on the tv all the time. Players like Perryman, Hoddle, Ardiles, Roberts clearly “loved the shirt”. And I just loved Spurs.

And the kicker. I had no real idea who the manager was*. On here the manager gets more attention than anything else.

More recent times Poch had me feeling real hope and pride, Harry had me on the edge of my seat with some great footballers. Jols adventures into Europe were great fun.

But now it’s all a bit meh. Sterile crowds. Client reference numbers and an influx of football tourists. Which I get is the modern game. I’ve worn that shoe and gone to Europe doing the same. Football is a form of entertainment.

So not sure if it’s just a combination of getting old and seen it all before.
Or if the love of the club is something most players just don’t have any more.
And most probably the managers don’t either.
And that feeds into your emotions as a fan.

Maybe I need a new hobby. I hear fly fishing by jR Hartley is a good read.

*(I realised as I got older and reading books etc that Nicholson and Burkinshaws love for the club infected the players. Think Jol and Poch both had a similar connection.)

Definitely as a child for me

I would have been about 10 or 11 when the jol days were in full flow and my dad and I were regular season ticket holders that would also go to a healthy amount of away games too

We were an exciting team to watch , win lose or draw and we at least gave it a proper go every week , or certainly felt that way

Appreciate a lot ot it will be rose tinted nostalgia though

At the end of the 1991 semi final. Beautiful scenes for an hour or two afterwards.
This - 5mins before the end and for hours/days/weeks after…

As a kid in the early 80’s speaks for itself.

Rare moments in the 90’s. Jol, Arry in 00’s/10’s. Individual brilliance of certain players: Hoddle, Ardiles, C Allen, Gazza, Lineker, Ginola, King, Defoe, Berba, Modric, Lennon, Bale, Dele, Son, Dembele, Kane…

Poch era had me really loving the club again - togetherness, competence, pride, passion all shared with the squad, management, fans. Though never Levy and therein lies the problem with our club in the 21st Century.

The Harry Kane era. One of the best players in the league and one of our own. Every goal he scored always felt that more personal. It was only the Poch team which made me proud but I wanted us to win so badly with Kane. Since selling him, I've struggled to build the same connection with the players in the team.

The proudest I've felt since was that 3-0 win in Europe where 3 academy lads including Mikey Moore scored the 3 goals. Guess it goes to show the connection comes from having players who love the club and know who we are.

Watching this current team fold in every london derby and the manager not understanding why we wanted City to win the league last year, just sums up the disconnection between this current team and the fans. We let Woolwich bully us every time we play them and the players don't seem to hate them back. This team just doesn't get it. Harry Kane always did. Even when he scored for Bayern against Woolwich last year he did an interview afterwards saying how it means more to score against them and that he knew we were watching. He gets us. This team doesn't!

Looking back Id say the Harry redknapp era.
No red sponsor on the shirts and we used to play the kind of football which from my understanding is the definition of spursy.

Nostalgia? Maybe a bit but its my favorite era that I can remember.

The player that I felt most connected to or loved the most was kane until he did the gary cunt interview

the DPleat season of 86-87 possibly, in that I was still living in London, didnt have kids, had a ST on the Shelf, went to quite a few cup games and away matches too when you could just rock up and get in. Hoddle and Waddle, the Clive Allen goals, Clem as keeper, some great football and seemed like lots of goals

- in the 90’s when we had Sheringham and Klinsmann and the one season I remember us with Gazza.

- Redknapp era

- Poch era obviously

Overall Poch era. We were brutal on the pitch and classy off it mostly. Other fans where jealous of us. Apart from the final 12 months or so it was a good time.

94/95

Jol Era.
Redknapp Era.
Poch Era.
1st Half of Conte Era

Right now I'm as disconnected as I've ever been. Right up there with the turgid shit under Gross, Hoddle, Ramos latter AVB.

You miss being young it's as simple as that. I was a young boy who saw us lose the 1988 cup final win it in 91. Both of those felt part of my formative years then Wembley against Leicester city. But I was fully aware of the Crooks Archibald Hoddel pomp and we were GLAMOUR That shine dissipated then burnished again under Redknapp.

The modern fashion that talks up the Spurs DNA think it's simply attacking football it's not. Postecoglou football attacking though it is like Peps can be fucking boring. Side ways nick it back post tap in has zero flair. I miss flair players. I want Berbatov, Keane, Waddle, Hoddle, Modric, Rafa Bale. It's why I want Cuhna, Cherik. I think the modern team is tiresome. It lacks individuals who make me want to pay the ticket price. I'll not renew till we build sides in this image.

Interesting question. Certainly not at present, and not solely because we aren't doing well.

I think more so because there is near inevitability of mistakes being made by our players in every game, and because we simply don't have one player who woupd get into a best Prem squad of 18. No one even close in my opinion. That's pretty embarrassing.

I think between 92 and 96. Even if we were mostly shit it was a time where I was a child learning more about our history and falling in love with Spurs.

Now I realise it's an abusive relationship.
