Hoddle at his best
Here they are in the Park Lane.Reading through these it strikes me how we take European nights for granted now.
Growing up through my teens/twenties/into my thirties this was my European experience. (I have left out the year we were in the intertoto cup)
91/92 QF Feyenoord can remember standing on the Paxton watching the Dutch fans pogoing on the park lane.
99/00 we played just 2 home games!!
06/07 QF Sevilla home. Incredible atmosphere. Martin jols blue n white army starting on the park lane through half time and then into the second half.
Even the west stand joined in!
Could do with a repeat of that type of vocal support next Thursday.
But Just 3 seasons out of 15!
Kids today don’t know they are born!
Here they are in the Park Lane.
fook yoo Spurz...fook yoo Spurz.
Did you go to Rotterdam?

The Dutch police bussed coach loads of Spurs into the stadium. We were literally locked in behind 30 foot fencing and barbed wire for hours before the game.Nope.
I was only a teenager. Saving up my paper round (x3) money to get to watch spurs games!
I’d have needed to swim to Holland!!

They allowed us to have a drink but the Dutch police then sat among the Spurs supporters, as we ate and drank, in the seated area.
I remember the Dutch police having guns and the stadium DJ playing daisy daisy and my old mans a dustman to make us feel at home. It was a surreal experience.
We had been bundled on to the coaches, in Worcester Avenue, at the back of the shelf, at about 5.30am.
The game was pretty poor. They won 1-0 and Spurs offered very little.
I remember John DeWolfe's bouffant bouncing around and Regi Blinka ripping our full backs a new one.
The French Police at Calais were really hoping we would kick off with them. Tapping their batons and staring us down I recall.
We sang 3-1 we beat the scum 3-1 continuously.
Coach journey back was shit.
Happy days though.
The trip to Rotterdam I attended was during the first season back in Europe for English clubs after the ban for the Heysel riot involving Liverpool.Dutch do like to keep away fans well segregated.
I used to spend time working in Eindhoven. The football stadium had its own train station which had a special bridge - essentially like an overhead tunnel - linking the away section to the station so no chance of any away fans getting involved with PSV fans.
So I got to see Spurs play there in the Europa.
I went to the stadium with my Dutch friends and they shepherded me away from the mental area of the ground - basically all the known hooligans - and pointed me in the direction I needed to go.
Strolled over to some metal fencing and was told by the police no entry. I needed to go to the other side to get in. Literally the entrance for Spurs fans was 100m away as the crow flies.
But I needed to walk all the way round the stadium to get there.
Tried to get them to let me through the fencing section. They weren’t having any of it.
It was also obvious to all local fans I was English at this point. Could feel eyes on me.
So I had to walk all the way back round the stadium.
Right past all the nutters who were pissed off as Spurs fans had trashed the town centre that afternoon/ evening.
I’ve never felt more English in my life.
Was just waiting to get punched in the face.
I didn’t.
We lost.
Standard European day out with spurs!!
Where will they be?Didn’t realise that Ossie,Graham and Ledley are in St Evenage on Wednesday night. Missed a trick there.
Wonder if any of Ledleys stories can match the ones from the 80s?
And 100% ossie will slate Ange and big up poch if you frame the question correctly!
Graham must be well and truly done with Ange as well by now.
Must be bloody annoying hosting legends events at the ground and watching us lose all the time. Ex players tend to be pretty negative when they can see playing shit is on the manager before the players.
Thought so. Wish I had known. They are at the Gordon Craig. Not sure it will sell out. Quite a big theatre.
Last time I went to see them in radlett it wasn’t sold out in a much smaller venue.
He ended up at Chelsea and won everything THERE, as per usual!Wonderful , special and incredible evening ; I’ll never forget it , as anyone who was there will agree.
It was a privilege to see Cruyff ; he still had it BUT don’t forget the young Feyenoord lad Gullit who was also outclassed that night ; … whatever happened to him .. ?
Odd because I only found out about this yesterday. I'm local and also keep tabs on this sort of thing. Day before the Frankfurt game, I can't get two passes in row sadly these days. All a bit late notice, did it only just get announced?Didn’t realise that Ossie,Graham and Ledley are in St Evenage on Wednesday night. Missed a trick there.
