Why we can finish top 4

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yes I agree.
I think that a photoshop that includes Daniel Levy dressed as Yoda will have a negative affect on our chances of finishing in the top 4.
Sorry, but I just never enjoyed the preemptive stuff like that because it's often blown up in our faces. I still have bad dreams about all that "Mind the Gap" shit we gave the gooners a few years back, only to end up missing out on our CL place.

Ha ha. Typical American Spurs fan mentality. For us to stand a chance of winning it, the league has to be poor. Really not surprising where this shit is coming from.

"Oooh gosh the game started 2 hours earlier than I thought. Oooh gosh, I only missed most of the game. Ooh gosh, i dipped in here, and the game was already over, ooh gosh 3-0 what a team.

What a fucking joke. For once and for all, can we be honest about the difference of commitment between our yank fans, and our Brit fans?
Some Americans have the same level of commitment as British fans. I would like to disagree :klinsmann:. I woke up at exactly 30 minutes before the game to see through the whole game

We are aiming for the top place. So is every other team in the league.

I do get so tired of these so called experts telling us what our aims should be. Surely every team that plays the competition aims to finish as high as possible?

I get tired of so called experts telling the rest of us what we should post and what our aims should be.
I've put dough on us winning the league. Is that ok?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. 4th would be an excellent achievement for this young squad, regardless of other teams' performances this season. A long-term injury to Kane without buying or loaning a back-up striker in January would really fuck us up too.

A top four finish would absolutely be a great result for us this season, no doubt about that. I didn't even expect that at the start of the season. Thing is, this season is a funny one. Chelsea are out of it before we even got to half way. Utd are proper shit and City and Woolwich are not convincing either. Leicester are top ffs. There is an opportunity this season for whoever can be consistent and I think as we have been, and it isn't a fluke but a team mentality thing, I reckon if we can get to ten games to go in roughly the same place we are now, Poch will convince the team that they are good enough to win most of those games and take the title. Of course, where we are with ten games to go we can't say yet, but I think it's reasonable to think that we will be in the mix.

One thing that will benefit us a little is that Euro qualifying is over so the international breaks won't take as much out of our team. We don't have many South American or African players, so we also don't have to worry about that impacting our squad.
Still, we need a little more depth. If Hugo, Dier, Toby, Walker, or Kane get injured we will dip in form. We don't have anyone who can step in at the same level right now.
We are not going to spend for a Goalie, so we just have to roll the dice on Hugo.
I think a physically dominating and hard tackling CM to give Dier cover is the most likely and easy to get in the transfer window, even if it is a smaller spend and the person only has to deliver in 4-5 games.
We are not going to get a right back anywhere near as good as Walker in the transfer window, so we have to roll the dice there as well, knowing that we may have to move Dier there if Walker gets injured. (Not ideal)
And a backup to Kane has been discussed ad nauseum so I won't recap.
My take, we can probably make top four with our squad. But, we'd be much more likely to make top four if we pick up a solid CM like Wanyama (even if it is not him). And if we get a striker that is cool with sitting on the bench and only getting a runout as a sub or getting a few starts here and there.

Can we rename this thread "Why we can finish top"!?

If both Man Utd AND Chelsea were to finish outside the Top 4, and we managed to... it wouldn't half be Spursy to see them both get to the CL Final (and obviously to our detriment)

I think i'd stop believing in the Football Fairy if that were to happen!

Same results in the second half of the season would see us on 70 points.

Would have been good enough to get top four last season and to be honest going off points this season and the way teams have been performing it would probably be good enough to get top four this season too. I think we have actually been blessed with the away fixtures we were given for the opening 17 games. I'd say the only tricky away game coming up in the second half, based on what I've seen from the teams and how the teams have performed at home would be Palace (A), City (A), Liverpool (A), Stoke (A). That is four out of our remaining 10 away games.

I'm just more glad that we have in Pochettino a manager that has made me want to watch Tottenham every single week. There were times in the past few years certainly where I would watch Tottenham because I supported them, not because I was particularly excited because the performances and some of the results but now I Just want to see us play every week, so what Alli gets up to, see how Kane performs etc. It's a joy to watch and wherever we end up this season, I'd just jot it down as a successful season where we've progressed and pushed on from last season in another step in the right direction

as said, ManU aren't in it, but even if Chelsea won the CL it wouldn't (on its own) have any bearing on top four qualifying as the rules changed.

Agree with all of this, but are you ever going to take a breather mate?
It must be exhausting posting at that frequency.
