He’s got more money than he makes out!

Not to make comparisons but the guy plays and runs like Eden Hazard.
No joke the way he manipulates the ball is pretty special. He uses every bit of the ball and every part of his feet at his disposal. It’s a subtle thing but once you notice it, that quality pops out. He goes inside and out, cuts left or right, I’ve seen him initiate dribbles with the outside of his left foot FFS. Such a quick decision maker and defensive information processor as well. He really is a complete dribbler, he can go whichever way he wants.

Technical skills are off the charts. I’m unsure about his long term position but the raw materials are there for everything. I wanted to be pessimistic on this one but I think Lange has unearthed a gem here.

I wish he was 20% faster or stronger but he is young after all. Still the PL experience will be invaluable for him. There will be turnovers as he seasons himself but not due to lack of touch, more due to outsized ambition. I’d much prefer those turnovers than Son/Johnson type turnovers where they can’t control a simple pass and take huge heavy touches into nowhere. Not so with Odobert.

The only downside of this is I think his skillset kind of overlaps with Moore’s, who is our best prospect. Unsure how we’ll handle their minutes. Maybe move Mikey central long term?

I see we have some "I've never heard of him" so "I'm underwhelmed" contributers. This forum is nothing if not entertaining.
Most of this board had zero idea he was even alive until we signed him. That’s probably a good thing, we’re fans the people who run things are supposed to be far more informed than us.

We sign a lot of these young players and our hit rate is pretty low. But some of them do come off and we can only hope this lad is one of them.

Time will tell.

How many youngsters do we actually need to buy in one window ? I am all for buying some exceptional youngsters talent for the future, but we need ready made players that improve our starting 11...so far this window we've signed one layer that apparently improves our starting 11, and that's debatable........we could be in a bit of trouble I think this season, we needed neto or someone of that quality..we get another teenager who will not be ready for what is needed this season........this is why we never get anywhere
Solanke absolutely should improve our starting 11. I do agree that we should have been pitching for at least two, and ideally three that improved our starting 11

That's not a downside mate, cream always rises to the top and if those 2 players are pushing each other and improving then it's a good thing for us.
