Match Woolwich Wanderers vs Tottenham Hotspur FC @ The Dome of Silence, 8PM KO Wed 15 Jan 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

2 stupid goals conceded but ultimately we got what we deserved absolutely nothing totally out thought out fought and out played embarrassing to be a sours fan -,Woolwich were totally up for a nld (witness the endless nauseous gesturing to the home fans) we were not - ultimately it’s the players - just not collectively good enough

Kulusevski as a winger - never again. He just slows the game down. But when sou have Johnson it’s not much of a choice.

We need left and right direct wingers. Only Richarlison played to Solanke strenght last night. Spence made great pass to him too. Gabriel saved them twice, but that’s not what our wingers do sadly.

Finally putting in my tuppence worth on that corner they scored from.

Everyone knows it should not have been a corner - however I was standing just a few rows away from the corner, and the ball was never in the corner d (it was at least a couple of inches completely outside it). Surely VAR could have checked that, as if the ball was never in the d, then it was never officially in play, and the goal should have been disallowed.

I think it's the annoying inevitability of the result that hurts most...

WHY couldn't we have upset the apple cart??
... why COULDN'T we have provided a shock... Why did it all have to go to plan?

Even allowing for our goal, to give us false hope... it had a very late-'80s feel to it, 1-0 up, 2-1 down... Seemed to happen EVERY time we played them during that time...

VAR may have conditioned us to hold off celebrating a goal until it's confirmed, and now Spurs have tempered my level of goal celebrating until I KNOW it won't 'just' be a consolation scored early...

Which is all it proved to be. Yes, we went 1-0 up, but who amongst us thought THAT would be the final score?

Yet when Palace went a goal up against us, it stayed that way...
When Ipswich scored, our heads dropped and they scored again...
WE don't seem to be able to buck the trend when either we're the underdogs, (last night) or things start to go awry when we're expected to win.

Ipswich shouldn't have hada prayer against us, yet THEY managed to beat the odds... As did Palace, as did Wolves, as did Brighton at 0-2 down...
It CAN be done!

Just not by us.

No pressure on the League Cup SF 2nd leg, but basically, our immediate season is hinging on it...
Lose that, and we'll spend the next month feeling sorry for ourselves, and forget to progress in the other two cup comps.

Win it however, and we'll prove the world wrong.

PROVE IT CAN BE DONE SPURS...
because it really CAN be done!

Trust me, I've seen EVERYONE ELSE do it!

Biggest problem we had last night was playing out from the back, and reason for that was Dragusin on the right (never ever suited to Angeball) and the right footed Spence on the left who kept needing to take an extra touch to take the ball back on his right foot.

Should be playing Reguilon at left back. Not as good as Spence but is left footed.

Never said the ref lost us the game, we lost the game but he was whistling the game to perfection for their game plan.
He really wasn't as bad as some make him out to be. In the vast majority of cases, it was Sarr/Kulu/Porro going to ground needlessly or tripping them up as opposed to using their brains and putting their foot in front of the ball. Basics really...and we can't even do those right, it's literally shocking at that level.

Disagree

There are types of calls and locations of calls that suit certain teams and strategies.

If you want to press you need the ref to let contact from behind slide and 50/50’s on the hallway line when you are defending.

If you are a set piece team you want to get a call for every contact in the final 3rd when you have the ball.

As opposed to a team like us or City where you want the ref to play advantage more and allow transitions and the game to flow. We don’t want stop start, dead ball situations at all.

If you watch that first half, Hooper was whistling EVERYTHING. I’ve always wondered if teams data departments study this and study officials tendencies…

The funny thing about Hooper is that he got in trouble with a whistle against City once where he didn’t play advantage when Grealish was through so it’s clearly his style. He was probably the perfect official for their game plan.

And after all that, a referee can’t win a game, they don’t kick the ball. We need to be good enough to win despite officials.

Must be great going into this fixture as a gooner knowing that basically you never lose.

Same with chavs away.

Sickening for us though.
Every single season for as long as I can remember we may as well not even turn up for the following fixtures.
Woolwich (A)
Chelsea (A)
Liverpool (A)

The are all just nailed on losses these days. May as well forfeit and save our legs.

That's a good analysis - would like to see Ange fired soon. This gung ho type of football is way too risky - offensive football can be played much more controlled than what we're doing at the moment.
What was gung ho about our play? We were useless attacking and barely created any chances. We don’t even try to cross the ball. Amount of times both kulu and Johnson down the right never put the ball in always cutting back. This is a myth about Ange and his attacking football. When was the last e we had anyone pinned in their own half like we were for most of the first half. Angeball is a dream which is actually a nightmare. There no patters of play to progress the ball into oppo half. It’s all off the cuff and sometimes works when we have a bit of space. However on the whole it is just hoping we get through otherwise a long ball.

It’s just boring now.

Don’t even really feel sick, just disinterested.
I used to be glued to the screen for NLD and had it on the bucket list to go to one… last night was skipping tabs on the laptop and not really that bothered because they are just boring. It’s like watching a new Marvel movie, loads of hype and all that but you can predict the storyline from the trailer.

In Spurs case, we are always that side character that gets killed after a few lines and 2-3 scenes in the movie.

Which is precisely why RSol did that Google ad....
'cos he KNEW it wouldn't come back to bite him, and that we were too weak mentally to shove it down his throat and prove to them all what smug gloating cunts they all are.

The REASON they're all smug gloating cunts is because the rarely, if EVER lose this fixture at home...

I await next season's Gloating Google 10 advert!!

Assuming we're both even in the same fucking DIVISION to play eachother!

Agree, the way we wilt and fold makes it easy for referees to give decisions against us. We have nothing about us at all.

And refs know that if a decision goes against us there’s no comeback from an angry manager in their faces like Klopp

Ange complained about us being too passive yet he stands in the touchline game after game defeat after defeat hardly saying a word!

Yep we are too nice. The only way to game the refs in this league is to wade into them and then they shit their collective pants and give you everything. You just have to ride out a few fines and stand your ground.
