It goes back to the old argument. You play to your strengths and counter your weaknesses. If you don’t retain the ball very well under pressure don’t piss about with it at the back and fucking clear it
 
Spence apart I think our players have been very poor. Gray has been ok but is not urgent enough in possession. Kulusevski has been terrible and just constantly gives the ball away. Son's lack of actual tackling makes all his defensive running pointless. Look how Artsenal are all over our players when we have the ball. We are too passive.
 
Let's hope the ref sees the error for the corner and starts giving us some decisions second half because at the moment we only have to go within a yard of them and it's a free kick while they are all over our players.

Having said that it's unacceptable that we bottle this fixture every time. The players are terrified.

Only Bergvall and Spence can hold their heads up so far.

Woolwich were there for the taking but we just haven't turned up at all.

I'm sick of us bottling this fixture. We would be better off not going to the Emirates and taking the default loss every season we are so poor.

If we had some belief and just played our football without the silly mistakes this was very winnable today
 
i can only see 2 possible options for us to try and get something out of the game

1) bring Maddison on and HOPE he can inspire something, the rest of the midfield will have to up their performances by 50% too
2) bring Richy on, go 442 with the two mids sitting deep, and then go full route 1 with Dom and Richy, their centre halves dont actually like defending

Neither are blameless and both make mistakes. But we in a way force them to with the way that we set up.

That's a good analysis - would like to see Ange fired soon. This gung ho type of football is way too risky - offensive football can be played much more controlled than what we're doing at the moment.

Our usual tactics aren’t the problem in this game.

They scored off a corner that should have never been and a shot from an acute angle that the keeper should have saved.

We just have shit players in midfield.
