In part because Donald has threatened to close down American host cities that don't agree with him (a lot of the states football hotbeds are in democratic/blue cities or regions, like LA or Seattle). And in part because Infantino is a brown nosing rat who sucks up to anyone that can give him power.

Sepp Blatter was a corrupt cunt. But he was corrupt in a way where he just looked for personal financial gain in addition to actually liking football and sports. Infantino seems to be much more about political influence and power as far as his corruption goes.

On a personal note, I think that if he really starts that business, countries should boycott the WC....
Football is not a political tool for the use of any wanna be dictator..it's going to be a difficult enough watch anyway with all the stupid razzmatazz that's probably going to accompany the tournament...not really looking forward to it....and guess where I'm going to be during the tournament? You guessed it...

I’ll happily give you advice that will ensure that you’re denied entry at immigration control. In fact, all you have to do is not fill in your visa form.

As for the World Cup, far worse regimes have hosted than the U.S. going back to Argentina in 1978 or do you think that Qatar or Russia are more democratic than the countries of North America?
The 2030 Cup is being hosted in part by Morocco where the monarchy holds sway and 2034 in that cradle of democracy, Saudi Arabia.

The World Cup has been politicized since at least 1966 when all of Africa boycotted.

But will he be gone...his lawyers and backers are most certainly looking to overturn the amendment about 2 terms...and if does get to stand again, the whole country will have been jerrymandered to ensure he wins..
Incidentally, although it has been hosted by some dreadful countries, no one has ever changed a venue for their own political game...
And actually I have no choice but to be there..we should meet up for a beer and talk about this like the gentlemen we are....

Gerrymandering occurs within a state — the summation of presidential election votes occurs at the state level. No amount of gerrymandering within a state will affect its outcome. I’d prefer not to discuss such a divisive subject but if you’re going to, I would ask that you educate yourself first.

As someone with non-citizen immigrants in my immediate family, I can tell you that, for most of us, the politics are the same non-event that they were when Obama deported 3 million people. For most of us who aren’t political activists (and I know several by virtue of geography), it’s business as usual. The fall of the Republic has been overstated although I am queasy at any expansion of executive power by the courts although they know that will set precedent for a future Democrat President. The greatest concerns are economic: inflation and tariffs (the latter of which have made my life difficult).

I was in England for several weeks earlier in the season and I’d be more concerned about the political state of the country if I were a UK or (insert European country here) citizen.

The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to order visa-exempt foreign tourists to disclose their social media histories from the last five years before entering the country, according to an official notice.



The proposal laid out in a notice published Tuesday in the Federal Register would apply to visitors from 42 countries, including Britain, France, Australia and Japan, who do not need a visa to enter the United States.



Currently, those travellers only need apply for a waiver known as the Electonic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), which still requires them to provide certain personal details.



Under the proposed new rules, the collection of social media data would become a “mandatory” part of ESTA applications.



Applicants would need to provide their social media histories from the last five years, according to the notice.



They would also have to submit other “high-value data fields” including phone numbers from the last five years, email addresses from the past decade, personal details of family members and biometric inform
ation.
