It’ll probably be a great tournament and all the moaning pre tournament will be forgotten. They did it before Qatar .. it was excellent.
The football was brilliant in Qatar even where the surrounding event was a bit chintzy. (And leaving the morality and corruption of it all to one side)
I think the advertising during mandatory water breaks, the much lower quality of teams involved, the lower stakes of the new expanded group stage, and the way in which VAR has tightened its evil grip around the neck of the game in the intervening four years is going to collectively shock people in a way that will then open the door to shock about empty seats and the Trump of it all.
I could be wrong, we'll see. But the way in which the game is a boiling frog right now is really disturbing, something needs to wake people up.

Had a look at the group games and kick off times. Half of them after midnight so sod them. A lot of the others are like Uzbekistan v Cape Verde or similar. Forget it. I will watch the England games and Croatia if Vuskovic is playing. These things never get going till last 16. DJed Spence might just end up as england right back the way injuries are going.

Yeah mental as it sounds, the USA under Trump seems a more unstable, chaotic and potentially disastrous WC host than Russia and Qatar.
Those 2 were actively using the WC as a form of sport-washing and a means of rehabilitating their reputations. Plus their people are absolutely football mad. It was in their every interest for the tournament to go smoothly and for there to be no scandals.
The US aren't even a footballing nation and Trump's a completely chaotic force. Obviously they'll want to the tournament to run smoothly and perhaps it will, but it feels primed for something utterly mental/awful to happen. A mass shooting, Trump making it about him in some ridiculous way, some horrible ICE shit...nothing would be surprising tbh.
Statisticly It would be a huge annormaly if there was no mass shooting in the us of a during the tournament.
I have to admit I have zero knowledge of security measures for the World Cup in the us.
