Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Seems to have natural talent on the ball but not much in the way of footballing intelligence. Never picks the correct time to pass or shoot.
If that's the case, then a decent manager will help him a lot. I thought he was ok today, then I come to this forum and everyone is calling him shit. Go on Twitter expecting the same thing, everyone says he changed the game and pushed us forward.

Have in some games.... Just think he struggles to impose himself sometimes. Not entirely suprising considering the whole team has been dysfunctional and negative since he arrived.

We'll know more next season.

We are going to need more from him now, like it or not he was signed for a lot of money and he's on a high wage, don't think we have time to wait until the new season, I don't think that's asking for much.

Actually think in some games recently he looks too technical and the rest of our plodders can’t read the page is about to make.

I think he’ll come good. Would be helpful for him to have players that can trap a ball or make useful runs

Our midfield play is very poor generally. Players are not helping make themselves available to receive passes enough, and our runners become isolated and picked off far too easily. Simons definitely does not benefit from the overall unsophisticated play around him.

I thought he did okay as well. But then, I know feck all about football. My playing days, 200 years ago, were spent playing rugby.

.....Some players don't kick on until S2.... It is what it is. Doesn't mean he's not prepared to graft.

I don't think that's asking for much.

Depends how much more one is expecting.

.......Carrying the creative burden for a fucked up club as a 22 y/o in your first EPL season is a huge ask.

He's not the the only high cost, profile & wage #10 struggling to make the jump from the BL this season.

I'm not asking him to be the creative burden, I'm asking him to pick the right passes, track back, put in some effort and run, the very basics.

It's so weird people making excuses for him, he's done fuck all this season even if the team has been largely shit.

.......And as per my OG post; I don't think he's averse to these things.

"Excuses" and understanding a predicament are not one and the same thing........... He may prove a complete bust in time; but my point here has never been to predict his future.

So as I said in my original post I don't think he's a fighter, he's not showing enough

Biggest concern about Simon's is his lack of enthusiasm to track back and do the dirty work required, we are in a battle now, we need fighters, not sure he cuts the mustard where this is concerned. He has obviously lost confidence as well, badly needs a goal or a major goal contribution.

Son was lamented as a marketing buy. Then he found his feet and grew season on season until finally winning a golden boot.

Simons is still young. Has the ability to be great, just needs to find his rhythm.
