Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The issue with Simons is this:

He is extreeeemely ambitious. It will be haaaaard to keep him. And that brings up the question of how is his contract written.

He might have a point to prove in Barcelona. That's his state of mind.

Good

We’ve never won the PL or CL, right now any player who is motivated to get to the level above us will have to perform at a level that makes us better.

Then if we get enough of those we might actually win a PL or CL and then they either stay because they now see us as an elite club or we sell them and the new players have to live up to what they achieved.

Same way we still measure any new player against the players in that Poch squad who got very very close to winning the PL and CL.

Just to add some further thoughts on to that. If Xavi is playing from the left and coming in central. And we have a right footed Spence playing LB, we will have a serious lack of width on the left side of the pitch and no overlapping runners.

I just wonder how this works in practice.

I still think we would have better balance with Xavi centrally, and an Odobert out left or something like that.

I am not sure we need three CMs and only 3 creative / attacking players.

To me that seems a bit overly defensive unless we are up against the very best sides.
Don’t worry, Gentle Ben will be rampaging up the LW sooner rather than later… He’s seen as a LB in our squad.

Goood. Hopefully he can raise the overall mentality of the younger players within the squad.
He's not a young player. He's been around. This was a major coup for THFC to get him. He is a young player but should not be considered such. Frank said that during his press conference when Xavi's transfer went through. He's like a young Christiano Ronaldo type a player. Yes, young. But huuugely talented and with enormous resume. He's by far the highest value THFC possess right now.

Something inside me thinks Micky Van de Ven is involved in letting Xavi know what a great club this is.
Call me Mr. ITK.
