anyone watch their game? How did VDV do at LB?

Gonna bang this drum regularly but I wanna see him there for us. His ball carrying and beautifully weighted, simple but arrowed passes down the line are wasted at CB. He’s also not a great box defender, Danso offers more in that role.
Yes mate,he was decent. Very comfortable playing there. There was a couple of times he bombed forward and he’s like a train. He’s definitely a back up option for us there.

He’s so slick, so Dutch with his touch and passing. The ball carrying is immense too, like an unstoppable
train.
i dont think its wasted at CB. hes one of the cleanest short passers about, you need that from CB, they have the ball so much.
Agree but he can really zip diagonal balls
Into feet or space into wide positions

Just class, plus he can’t head the ball!
yea he needs to improve his heading and be more aggressive in that regard, but he is still very young. if frank can tune him up a bit he has the potential to be the best CB in the world.
I see similar potential at LB TBH!!
Way to hijack the Xavi Simons thread!!

Perhaps the very most interesting thing about Xavi Simons is how is his Tottenham contract written. I'm sure he and his team demanded for there to be a release clause. Xavi comes from the Barcelona school. His idol is/was Neymar. He will relish a chance to play for Tottenham and in the Champions League. That is a big and bigger stage than PSV and Germany which is where he previously played. But he will dream to play for what are the biggest world clubs. And he could relatively easily be persuaded and swayed to leave. He has already been a bit all over the place. He seems like somebody whose head could easily be turned.

How is that release clause written is an interesting question.

Another interesting question is who could he be compared to. Who could he realistically aspire to become like? Whose career could he realistically emulate. He is unlike Ronaldo and Messi. And he is also unlike Neymar. He's also unlike Salah. It would have to be some sort of a right-footed offensive midfielder with great technique. A scorer and assist-maker. I don't know who from the modern world football could he realistically aspire to be like. Whose numbers in terms of goals/assists could he seek to emulate is a good question. What would be a great success for him at Tottenham?

One player comes to mind, actually. Not from the modern football era. But he played in England and for Tottenham too.

That is true of Xavi too. But things are a bit different in modern football.

Could you explain to me the difference between modern football and football in the 1990's with a specific focus on top flight English football.

Could you explain to me as if I was a 10 year old child and present your explanation in a table format, ideally with compare and contrast columns.

If this guys not a bot then AI has gotten out of hand

He’s the greatest shooter of all time.
Top 2 most skilled finishers and ball handlers all time.
Has 4 rings
Changed the way the game is played more than any player in the modern era.
Now Olympic Champion along with 2x World Cup Champion…

If that’s not a GOAT, tell me what is?
Can he beat an old & weird security guard at coin throwing, though?
